Thinking through goggles and camera upgrade
#1
Hi all,

I'm thinking about upgrading from my old box goggles and upgrading the old cameras in my quads to match. I fly whoops, a 2.5" and a 5".  Since this would be a chunk of change, I'm real tempted to go DJI digital, but I think that system is too big/heavy for the smaller drones I tend to fly most often. Maybe I'll go analog this round and let digital bake for a couple more years. I'm somewhat set on Skyzone SKY04Xs.

My 5" has a full size Swift 2 Rotor Riot camera and a Tramp HV vtx.

My 2.5" has a Swift 2 Micro and an Eachine VTX03.

I'm thinking about upgrading both drones to the RunCam Phoenix 2 Micro JB Edition. I watched his comparison videos and like it. That'd be going from a full size to a micro, I assume the camera comes with the adapter/bracket I need to make it fit?

For the 2.5", should I consider a nano size version? Seems like Micro is already pretty damn small. haha

Also, are my VTXs good enough for rock n roll?

rater than smartaudio to controll the vtx over the osd, the vtx03 is a nice vtx, i wouldnt change.
there is no need to change the tramp hv, its a top vtx :-)
no revolutions in the vtx market last time Undecided

as the eclair is designed for micro cams, i would choose a micro. if you will switch in the future, use the parts, a nano sized cam gives more options for future. a lightweight micro like a micro sparrow would be same or close to the weight of a nano cam.

you should consider the runcam nano3 as whoop cam :-)

not sure about the braket..

The listing I found for it says it comes with a bracket for filling it out to 28mm ("1x ABS Bracket (1928)"), but in case it doesn't you can get them separately:

https://shop.runcam.com/bracket-for-runc...cro-eagle/

I've used them on Caddx Ratels to fit them into frames designed for full size cams.

The ground is for dead people.

Just use the runcam adapter.

I recently upgraded an old old quad from a foxeer arrow v3 and eventhought I fly with ratels a lot, putting it on that particular quad which I have used the most by far over the years felt so good I could finally see!!

Goggle wise, if you are a student like me get some used hd3s or hdos (250 new from unmannedtechshop) and an eachine pro58 with Achilles or pirx (used this for a while now and its the best "cheap" setup there is)

If you can afford it, go with the new skyzones though, those look really nice - just pay attention on eBay as the v2 goggles for dji are now coming into stock everywhere and people are dumping their hdo2/rapid fire combo - seen this for around 380 on eBay.
