The KT-Bug 125mm!
#16
Thank you Tom for pointing out my lack of logic! Tongue

Switched to the ground pad closest to the +5V I could.  That does not necessarily mean that it is routed closest, but the pad is at least on the same edge of the board.  I hover tested it for a few minutes and no signal loss that I can detect...recharging several pack and will fly it this afternoon.

Attending a health workshop and flying is on hold till home Smile

Oh, KT-125 sounded to technical...the neighbors started referring to the little one as "Kaity-bug".  I think that will be its new name Smile

Enjoy your workshop and I hope you manage to convince some of the others attending, that FPV is great for mental health, as long as you can solder anyway!

LOL, I was told that soldering is bad because of lead exposure and that my...upper parts...will store the heavy metals. I know this already, that info is in the "upper parts" owner's manual. For that, they were all fascinated by the few videos I have available. I think there is one that would come to watch things live if I offered.

KT-Bug flew, but it has a lot of noise in the picture and I am thinking the VTX may have issues. I can see things well enough to fly, but the interference is beyond annoying and I feel dizzy after flying a pack through it. I am going to solder in one of the Eachine's I have here. For now, i am stuck flying KT-Mini...bummer, NOT! Big Grin

Also, not a fan of the DYS 2035 props. Not well balanced and when I shifted the GemFan 2035's on to it, things smoothed right up. I received a pack of DalProp 2035's to try...cannot wait!

The HGLRC TX-20 developed a heat related issue and required replacement.  Selected a Lumenier SM-25 and so far is seems pretty solid!

2.2 grams, so the units weigh the same.  Did trade out the SMA pigtail for a 70mm IPEX dipole so simplify things.  Shrink warpped (ran out of clear) and tied in place...feels solid enough to fly roughly.

Did not realized what a difference 2.5" (HQProp DP 2.5x3.5.3) props would make!  Typical 3 minute time, usually land with about 3.5 volts at disarm bouncing back to 3.7 volts after a few seconds of rest.  Thought the larger props would pull more from the battery, but just the opposite seems to have happened!  Landed with 3.7 volts, cool motors and was not being gentle testing the propellers out.

More testing needed, but I feel like these props might be perfect for the setup KT-Bug has right now.

Here is KT-Bug in a largish open area frying on the 2.5” props!

Finally, after exercising incredible patience...I have now flown a spot I have wanted to fly for some time. This is a smallish park near my house.

Will be replacing the 25mw VTX for a RunCam TX-200.  This will give it a little more power as it would seem it can fly out of range quickly if there is any sort of interference.

I think I have found my current favorite propellers for KT-Bug. The HQProp 2535's seem to be a great balance of lift, control, durability and quiet. Did purchase a set of 3" (3-hole to fit my 1105 motors) for testing fit. I am curious to see if they will actually clear the frame standoffs. Not sure if the little DragonFly motors will hold up spinning the heavier 3" props, even if they do fit.

It really feels like these 2.5" props fit a sweet spot on this build. It feel locked in and I think I will start to get a little more flippy with it Big Grin

After the HGLRC TX-20 failed, it was replaced with a Lumenier SM-25.  That turned out to have lack a little bit of range I was hoping for.  I tried the RunCam TX200, but the copy that I received was not passing signal through...and then the Chinese came through with a brand new, shiny and sleek Eachine VTX-03...

Life seems brighter somehow Big Grin

It is installed and tested, seems to work perfectly.  Now we will have to go afield and fly, KT-Bug and I!  Tomorrow will be sunny with no wind!

Butterflight 3.5.0 on KT-Bug, first untuned flight.  It is not as smooth as I expected after the experiencing it on the 5" and Japalura.

LOL, it is so light weight it just refuses to break!  It demonstrates that I have been flying much heavier craft and there is such a difference!
