So... After breaking a second Firer 110 frame, (this time it actually deserved to break) decided to try something new. There are more than a few 100 to 130 millimeter frames available, but wanted a little more space for the stack and parts. Found this one and built based on it. It is basically a scaled down version of my (now beloved) Charpu 210mm frame There are a few differences, but the layout is almost the same and one that I am familiar with. Something I realized is the extra 15mm footprint will allow for 2.5” props! For now I am sticking with 2”, but eventually I might try the larger ones. I have only flown it a few times in failing light to test that it works. It flies. Pretty much the same craft as the KT-110, but with the larger frame and soon an R-XSR RX. With both of them straight up, the amount of received signal when the quad is banking in a tight turn is close to zero. • Posts: 3,288 Threads: 129 Likes Received: 2,740 in 1,644 posts Likes Given: 2,969 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 65 Lol...they are just there for now. Still building it up. Broke the camera lens (please do not ask) and it has been essentially grounded while awaiting the replacement. Just installed the new lens and will try it out this evening! It handles similar to my 5" with ZERO tuning. I will get some fight video posted soon. I put about 10 packs through it with only a couple of minor hiccups...loose RX wire caused a couple of RXLOSS spills. Nothing broken and easy enough to fix. I though I had ordered pink, but it would seem they chose grey... Any suggestions on 2.5" props? It would be fun to see what it can do with the larger propellers. On mine where I have them placed vertically and not horizontally, I try to keep them just barely longer then the next higher thing on the quad (usually the battery). It seems that they are less prone to damage during crashes...and I crash a lot. Oh, and I wanna know how you busted the camera lens (I had to ask) "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" • Posts: 3,288 Threads: 129 Likes Received: 2,740 in 1,644 posts Likes Given: 2,969 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 65 That RX is one of the first RX bought by me and the original antenna wore out. The replacement antennas that I ordered ended up about 2" longer than the originals! I have a new XM+ RX for KT-210+ and the antenna are markedly shorter overall, but also the receiving (the stripped area) area is shorter. I think the longer wave catching part on the replacement antenna works better. I have a much stronger RSSI value on the longer antenna at 200 meters where the original antenna would read 70, the replacements read 85. Seriously? I asked that you not ask...but cause you did... When I had it out on my table, the filter glass on the back of the lens popped off and hit the ground...and broke! So the lens still worked, sort of. I tried to fly and found our fence while flying blind and scratched the outer lens. It also would not focus. Still not sure how the back glass came loose. My RSSI's are never that good, but I fly through and around thick vegetation a lot and if mine were that long, I would have ripped them off in short order. Sorry...I told you I couldn't help myself, that I HAD to ask. I have done similar things myself as I am sure many folks on this board have. The lesson here.......never say "don't ask", because there is always someone like me that will. "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" The 5VDC pad on the HGLRC F4 FC for the RX tore away and separated after a crash. There is another 5V pad on the board and I soldered the lead there. It powers the RX when on the ground. The motors spin up and at idle, everything seems to be fine. The issue comes when applying any throttle. The RX resets and again fails to launch. A few seconds and it is ready to fail again :/ Frustrating, but not the end of the world. KT-125 seems very sad sitting on the table with a broken wing. It would appear that the second source of 5V is taken off of on of the ESC legs or some other motor related circuit. Ordered a new FC that should be here on Monday. For now, I am limited to KT-210. If you are using un-paired + and - the signal has to pass through other components on the board to complete its circuit, which means it has more places to pick up interference.
