Testing brushless motor
#1
Can you test a brushless motor that is soldered to a esc without it being soldered to the FC? To make sure the solder is good and that the motor is good

Sure, you just need to send a Pwm signal, easiest choice would be a servo tester or a Pwm capable rx

Thank you for the response. But you have a new guy here. Is there something on YouTube? I've been looking but I guess I'm not asking the right question

Here's a video using a servo tester:

You can make a rig with alligator clips for connection to the battery.

One thing to notice with a servo tester.  In the video, his ESC has a BEC (which supplies 5V to the servo tester).  If your ESCs do not have the third wire (no BEC), then you will probably need to supply 5V to the servo tester by some other means (like a stand alone BEC or 5V regulator).

Just use a RX man Smile
feed the ESC with PWM signal, the ESC automatically detects PWM signal so no need to change any settings.

Plug your esc to receiver throttle channel with both wires - signal and gnd (throttle is channel 3 for mode 2 transmitters). Connect esc power leads to lipo pads/wires and feed 5v to the receiver with + and gnd wires.

If that isnt clear we would need more info on what components you have on hand to tell you how you can connect it.
