Tell us a bit about Yourself
#1
Thought it might be nice to get to know each other a bit better.

About me.

Contrary to what some may think my real name is not Biggles...LOL
Real name is Steve.

Lives in Australia.

Ex Military (Army).

is a Computer Engineer.

53 years old, married, 2 kids (left home..thank God..LOL)

Started flying RC models probably 35 years ago on a control line airplane, then up to gas powered plane radio control.

Got my Pilots Licence in a Cessna 150, and then up to a 172.. Have since let it lapse... No need for it now.

Then a long break due to kids.

Got back into it about 2 and a half years ago with Collective pitch choppers.

Then found the Quads..ohhh and what a buzz getting into them.

Been flying quads now for maybe 18 months or so.

Fair point Steve.....I'll give it a shot.

To stay consistent, I'll uses Mr. Biggles format

About me:

My name is not really sirdude either...one of my daughters gave that to me (long story).  My name is Chris.

I live in the USA, Norfolk Virginia.

Am a Civil Engineer working in the US Army Corps of Engineers

I am 64 years old (end of this month) with 3 daughters (which is why I have little or no hair).  All left home and one returned (oh boy)

In my 20's, I flew RC sailplanes and was a member of the League of Silent Flight (LSF)

Took flying lessons, but life happened and I never obtained a Pilots License.

Same as Steve, took a LOOONNNNG break due to kids and got devoriced (yay!!) and remarried (best thing I ever did)

Started flying quads last Christmas so I've been at it for about 8 months and have progressed as far as I have only due to the help and support of the people on this forum.

Having a blast!

ok here goes nothing....
my real name is Jimmy (LOL) no big surprise there. I like sunsets, long walks on the beach. Big Grin ok seriously.

I live in Los Angeles, California.
I'm 41 and I've been a welder for the past 6 years, but before that I worked for a company assembling circuit boards for the military and Motorola.

I have a wife and 16 month old daughter that is my whole reason for living.
I got into mini quads about 7 months ago after getting bored of flying big aerial video drones for about 5 months. I wanted something more exciting so decided to give fpv a try and been hooked since.

I'm a big believer in trying help people, probably due to the fact that through out my teens and early 20's I was battling with drug addiction and there were people that never gave up on me and continued to try help me even though I felt like I didn't need help.

I have a crazy sense of humor that might even be annoying to you guys sometimes. but I don't care I love making people laugh.

Great idea! Here's my bio:

My real name is Antonio, however, nicknames in real life are very common where I'm from so everyone actually calls me tozes and I'm pretty sure some of my friends don't even know my real name Big Grin

I'm from Portugal but live in the Czech Republic at the moment. As far as I can tell, the hobby is still very much unexplored territory around here but I'm doing my best to spread it by getting some people on board already.

31yo, no kids (that I know of Big Grin), getting married next year.

I'm a software engineer, mostly working with python these days.

Got into the hobby by accident last December when I was looking for some project that would involve electronics and oh boy, biggest can of worms I've ever opened (in a good way of course!). Before that, the only contact I had with RC was a 1/8 gas powered buggy I had when I was a teenager. Now I'm having a blast learning to fly FPV.

Like Jimmy, I also have a crazy sense of humor and I'm usually sarcastic so I try to tune it down a bit online otherwise people often don't like me Big Grin

My real name is Øyvin, so no big surprise there either.

I'm 32 years old, live in Stavanger Norway with my girlfriend and a dog and work as a Field PLC Engineer for an oil service company. I travel around the world onshore and offshore and fix all kinds off mechanical/electrical/hydraulic/control system etc problems. Onshore is mostly commissioning of new equipment. I have been doing this for 4 years now.
I got a Bachelor Degree in aeronautical engineering and a Masters Degree in mechatronics.

I started building and flying FPV quads in january 2016 and the only RC experience I got before this is with those cheap toy copters. I've always wanted to be a pilot ever since I was young, but it like most dreams, it never got to play in real life.
When starting with FPV a half year ago I was hooked instantly, and now I can't wait to get out there and fly! I feel that this is actually more fun than piloting big aircrafts since you can fly like a madman without any major consequences.

I'm also into old VW buses, and got a 1974 campervan and a 1989 4wd multivan that needs some love once in a while. Thats me on the left in the picture when we are packed up and ready to go to the Roskilde Festival in Denmark in 2007 (Man, that is almost ten years ago!)

For me some of the fun comes from building and tuning. I love how much control and understanding I have on the craft Smile Just something I don't have with life

Looks like we have a lot more in common than the quads! I also like motorcycles (got a ktm 690smc supermoto), mountain biking (enduro) and I snowboard when I can't ride the bikes.
What rides have you got?

Edit: Figured I could upload a couple photos of my rides:

I guess I'm the odd one out so far here.

My name is not Xtopher, (duh) Its Chris (Sirdude, we're Chris Buddies!)

I'll be 18 by the end of next month. I am a senior in high school but I am taking college classes at my local community college. I plan to major in physics next year.

I have been flying quads for about three weeks, though last weekend ended with a snapped arm so now I'm waiting for shipping yay.

I love puns. No matter how hard you push an envelope it will still be stationary.

I have never don't anything RC before this so its all very new to me. I also design and build with Lego. Here's a link to my Flickr page. https://www.flickr.com/photos/xtopher98/

About me.

Nope lol FPV isn't my real name although when i was younger i struggled to spell my real name so resorted to writing lol on everything. My real name is Lawrence.

I live the West Midlands, England.

I am an SEO/Web Designer/Developer/I do things with websites for a living  Big Grin

I am 20 Years old 21 in December. I am Engaged to be married in 2 years time with Hamster FPV being my best man  Cool

My first experience or RC was when i was about 4 or 5 years old. I used to go with my dad to the local model boat club and race round with my little RC speed boat. (Most of the time annoying the old guys there who enjoyed going a lot slower haha)

Next thing i had were RC cars something else my dad got me into. (He & my uncle used to race for a club when they were younger) i never really did much with my RC cars just raced them up and down the street.

I got into flying quads around 8/9 months ago when i received a Syma x5c for christmas. Less than a month later i had built an F450 and have now progressed onto Mini & Micro Quads.  Now just to see what the future has in store for me in this hobby.
