I got a Xracer F3 V3.1 with BF 3.2 RC4 and a XSR flashed with the latest firmware where smartport is connected to TX2 on the FC. Telemetry works, but I can't get the LUA script to work. The values will not update in the script and it is just lines instead of numbers. Has anyone had the same issue?

Did you only recently flash the XSR?

I flashed the latest firmware to both xsr I have. The one that is connected to uart2 (RX and TX is jumped) on my spracing f3 is working fine, but the other that is connected to tx2 on my xracer is not working. Both are connected as specified in the manuals. Why is it so that the spracing uses both TX and Rx, while the xracer does not?

As far as I know, SmartPort is a 2-way protocol, only when using Softserial requires RX and TX to be jumped. With hardware serial (any UART), the TX pin can handle bi-directional communication and that's the only pin needed.

I don't think you need to jump TX/RX if you are using UART2 on the SPRacing F3 for SmartPort, you might be getting the illusion that it works when they are jumped, but actually the RX might be doing nothing in this case and not needed at all. (That's just my speculation, I've never set up SmartPort on a SPR F3 board before)


Here are my suggestions:

Can you try an older firmware like 3.1.7 just to rule out the possibility of a buggy FC firmware? I haven't tried 3.2 yet so I cannot confirm.
Also try the older XSR firmware i mentioned, I've heard the new firmware has some bugs with SmartPort. Again I've not tested the new firmware yet.

I just had two XSR that I updated over the weekend with i believe was ver 170619 that fixed the script telemetry on my setups. I am running bf 3.2 on my FC's.
