0 Hello everybody, I'm just about to to finish my first build (250 nighthawk) and I've been using liftoff to get to grips with acro mode and have a question.
When your making turns whats the best way to initiate the turn? I find that moving both sticks together is a bit harder than starting by leading slightly with yaw and then roll and a bit of pitch as required.
I just dont want to get any bad habbits that will make things harder as i get more experienced and start racing properly.
Cheers, Dan

44 My advice is You shouldn't concentrate on such details. Go flying and very soon You'll find Your way of making maneuvers.
Just stop thinking about it and practice - there's no right or wrong way.

It is surprisingly difficult to put into words how to do turns. Some you need yaw and roll, others just yaw, all depends on what and how you are flying at the time, It just comes to you . I do not actively think about turns other than when to make one, The thumbs just seem to know what I want to do..LOL

1 Concur with what the others say, for a fast smooth turn you'll have all 4 movements going at once. Juggle the throttle to maintain your height. Roll and yaw to get through the turn as quick as possible and pitch to get your nose down and get back to forward momentum.
Which inputs are needed becomes instinct very quickly!!

0 Ok cheers for the input. I've come from rc drifting where technique is important when competing. I just need to get the muscle memory for flying.
I've played console games for 20 years where the flight controls are mode generally mode 3 in tx terms, and it shows in the 'oh s#!t' moments where instinct kicks in and I'm upside down cheeing up the virtual grass.
I've just got to wait for my minimosd and dom's to turn up in a few weeks and I'll be off.

0 I did and couldn't do it at all which is weird. At least i know how to strip and build my tx now. I can mange a whole lap on the straw bales level in acro mode now and then at speed. So i think I've played enough now and need to do the real thing. Just got to wait for hobbyking to fill the back order on the goggles.

1 I have also done a lot of gaming... mostly pc as well but not for a few years now though.
RC wise though I was into fixed wing nitro and with the planes you could stick the throttle up full and then not touch the left stick until you were landing if you really wanted!!
FPV is a different beast altogether!! Still find myself turning my head to help turn the quad... it's that immersing.
