I just ditched my flysky FS-I6 and got a taranis instead. I must say that the upgrade was well worth it! I have stated earlier that I didn't like the taranis but that was after trying it for a couple of minutes and it was not my quad, so I guess I didn't get to enjoy the taranis to its full potential. I must say that my flysky has got a lot of abuse the last year, so I would guess the pots in the gimbals has done it's job, but with the taranis it was like flying on rails compared to the flysky where I felt I had to always do some minor corrections when I was flying. I also find it much easier to fly smooth with the taranis. But now to the problem. I feel that the X4R-SB has poor range. Several times today I experienced that failsafe kicked in and one thime the quad even fell out of the sky. This was not a problem with my flysky. I guess I was about 150-200 meters away at the most and sometimes failsafe kicked in after maybe 100 meters. I tried with the transmitter antenna lying and standing up and it made no noticable difference. Do you have telemetry set up and did the taranis warn you of a weak signal? Batteries full charged in the transmitter? Are both antennas securely fastened and not grounded out anywhere? Again, pretty obvious tuff that you've probably already checked. "Damn the torpedoes!!! I would suggest: 0. do a range check with your quad (option in Taranis menu first page), it reduce the TX power to 1/30 so you can see how far you can go with your TX. Compare result with your friend's Taranis if possible. I guess it should be good, since it is brand new. There is no connectors as everything is soldered. I even removed the little connector for telemetry, so I could solder it instead. there could be a posibility that it is something there, so I will check it. Thanks

I have placed the antennas a bit different on this quad where one is pointing straight up, and one is pointing backwards. • |
