Taranis drop outs and missed phases
#1
Hello everyone,

So my main flying ground is causing some issues. In some parts of the ground, the receiver very easily loses a phase and continues the last command until the phase comes back. These spots are not too far from where I stand, and this usually happens when the copter is upside down, such as halfway through a trick.

The field is surrounded by buildings(apartments) on 2 sides.

I thought it was an antenna issue, so I did the Taranis antenna mod and SWR seems good, but I'm still having the same issues. I did not have a problem flying hundreds of meters out and doing all sorts of maneuvers at another field, so I'm pretty sure the issue is with the field.

This is the only field I have regular access to(the other one was hours away) and it's now getting frustrating not being able to fly properly.

I even tried building a 2.4 CP antenna to use and that only made a marginal difference, it seems. Any ideas?

Tell people to turn off their WLANs... lol sorry bad joke. Wink Just been reading of a group that flew near cellphone towers and all their quads dropped dead, so if it's stuff like that you probably can't do much about it.

You could experiment with where exactly you stand, which direction your tx antenna is aiming... could it just be signal reflections between the buildings that result in overlapping mirrored phases?

I usually stand at one end of the field near the fence. I guess I could try standing in the middle to see if that makes a difference. If there's no solution, I'm pretty much out of the hobby as I have no regular place to fly.
