Tango II and Radiomaster Ranger Nano problem
#1
Anyone successfully managed to get external Radiomaster Ranger Nano module working with Tango II? I have the latest Tango II board version, it's v3, and I've followed JB's tutorial on how to do it. I can't get it to bind to my Mobula 7, regardless of what I did. Yes, binding phrase is set correctly.

Note that this same Ranger Nano module works perfectly fine in my Radiomaster Zorro. As soon as I pick model in my radio that's set up for external module, my Mobula 7 gets instantly connected to my Zorro and this external module.

With Tango, not so much. I even had some trouble with elrsV3.lua script... at first it worked fine, but then couple of times, I was not able to change my Maximum power to anything else but 500mW. It stays on 500mW, and I change it to say 250 or 25, and it reverts back to 500mW instantly. I also sometimes get some syntax errors when trying to open that lua script. Lua script was compiled using all the correct external module information through the latest version of ExpressLRS Configurator, and uploaded to the Scripts/Tools subfolder in my Tango II SD card.

I tried disconnecting Ranger Nano and installing it back to my Zorro, and as soon as I switch to my external module model, it connects to my Mobula 7, no problems at all.

I am at the point of giving up, and did not want to bother anyone of you guys, but I'm thinking maybe someone else ran into the similar trouble. I really wanted to use my Tango II with all my ELRS quads. And yes, binding phrase is defined and the same for Ranger Nano, as well as both of my Mobulas. Have no idea what to try next.

Thank you so much in advance! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for your reply, greatly appreciated. I just updated my Tango II to the latest FreedomTX, which is some Beta release. Lua script was totally OK, it's generated in ExpressLRS Configurator when I was building and flashing that package for Radiomaster Ranger Nano.

I am using this opportunity to say, my problem was solved simply by updating Freedom TX. It's surprising only because I wasn't on some super old release, it's actually the latest golden release v1.34, but after I updated it to v1.35 Beta, everything works amazingly! Even that same LUA script file works without any errors. It works like a charm actually. As soon as I updated it, and fired up my Tango II, switched to my RangerNano model in my radio, boom... it bound to Mobula 7 instantly. All works great now.

Thank you so much for your kind action by replying to this post.

Cheers!

I had the same probelm. RadioMaster said I should power the Nano with external battery because the Tango 2 may not be powering up the module as it should. Sure enough, after putting an external battery, the module works fine.

My tango2 is on the latest firmware 1.35 but, I didn't have the same outcome as you....

Hmmm, not sure what else to do.

Okay this is the official reply from RadioMaster with the issue that I was having.

"Both TBS Mambo and Tango have built-in 1S batteries with a maximum voltage of 4.2V, which cannot meet the minimum 6V supply voltage of the Ranger series, and the Ranger can start, but it cannot make its power amplifier chip work."

Hopefully, this helps other people with similiar issue.

This is strange, because you can put a TBS CROSSFIRE MICRO TX V2 module in a mambo, which also needs a minimum of 6 volts of power, and it works fine.

I found the problem/  Tango 2 hasnt enough int power
I can use Ranger nano with 50mvt power and no cooling fan !!!!
as soon as you try to change the transmitter power for 100 mV or turn on the int fan   - Beware of rebooting TX/  (failsafe can be any moment)
In my case I broke the new JB frame
And now thinking about upgrade Tango DC - who know - is it possible to upgrade with standart tango 2 nano kit ?
