Yo, welcome. You can make your motors spin the other way

Hey Juke, welcome to the forum, you can set motor direction in BetaFlight. Pretty sure I have read somewhere that you can swap any 2 motor wires to reverse the direction too?

Thanks for the replies.
I thought reversing motor direction might incite carnage as the motor shafts are threaded for one direction. I'll start a build thread..
Thanks for the welcomes.

A lot of motors have been coming with only CW thread for a while, it can be a PITA to find a CCW thread lock-nut at a hardware store!

I only use CW motors if I can. As long as you secure the propellers with nylock nuts, the threading direction is not a problem. Of course, if you don't use nylock nuts, the anti-clockwise motors will unscrew the nuts in flight.

Reversing motor direction is done in either the ESC firmware settings, or by swapping any two motor wires.

From your picture, all your propellers are CCW propellers, so you need to get some CW propellers and nylock nuts for the motor shafts.

Welcome to IntoFPV Juke

I hope you enjoy it here... and as you are already seeing the community is eager to help Smile unfortunately unseen already beat me to the thing I was going to point out

I've had to do this with both of my builds. I also, like unseen only use CW threaded motors. Not on purpose, just because the motors I've bought have both come in packs of 4 with all CW threads.

If your ESCs are BLHeli then reversing them is one of the easiest configurations to do. In fact the toughest part for me has been figuring out which of my motors needed to be reversed sometimes. Once you have that it's just a matter of reading the set up in the configurator, hitting a few drop downs, then writing the new set up back to the ESCs.

All I do is get a bit of thick paper or card, about 1" long. Make a hole in one end so that it can fit over the motor shaft. Put the paper on the motor and spin it up in the motors tab in the configurator.

The paper makes it easy to see which direction the motor spins and all you have to remember is that the rear, starboard motor (number one in Cleanflight/Betaflight/iNav ordering) is supposed to spin clockwise. The directions of the other three are easy to infer.

Good idea that is. I've started a build thread in the Beginner questions section. Figured it was probably the best place for it. Is there a section for build threads?
