Syma X5C Fun With Super Easy FPV Conversion
#1
The Syma X5C makes a fun FPV quadcopter.
I removed the prop guards, the on board camera and the landing legs. I weighed them and was pleased to see they weigh the same as my little Eachine TX02 super mini 5.8GHz FPV Transmitter with FPV camera and Clover Antenna.

I made a little mount for the camera/tx unit and velcroed it to the top of the Syma. It works great. The camera/tx plugs into the place where the picture camera plugged into. What could be easier? I am using 800 mah batteries to power the rig. The video is as clear as a bell, too. Big Grin

I really enjoy flying the Syma around FPV but........................ Dodgy

After a few flights I did bend the antenna as the cam/vtx unit is sticking up on top of the Syma. I could see where this would lead. Eventually the antenna or cam unit would get trashed.   Cry

So, I decided to put it inside the hollow frame. It was EASY!!

    1.  I took the shell apart and made some little opening cuts for the camera neck and antenna base to protrude through.

2.  Snip the little Eachine TX02 apart and solder small wires to the corresponding stubs.

3. Solder + and - ( red and black)  which is power and ground wires for the Eachine unit to the + and - on the flight control board where the wires come up from the socket used for the original Syma camera.

4. I used a hot glue gun to fix the cam at a slight up angle and the Flight control board where the squarish antenna base protrudes.

5.  Snap and screw the top shell back on. Believe me this is fun and EASY.

The beauty of this set up is that the camera and the antenna are now out of the way and protected. Plus it looks stealthy and cool. Cool

Let us know if you do one up too.
