Syma X5C-1: awesome starter quad

http://www.banggood.com/Syma-X5C-Explorers-2_4G-4CH-RC-Quadcopter-Mode-2-With-Camera-p-913827.html

Syma x5c-1 with eversion (quasi acro mode) and two modes.
It has a possibility to to switch between modes
Syma's mode 1 = standard mode 2
Syma's mode 2 = standard mode 4

Modes explained from Oscar's page

you can take pictures and record videos in standard "HD" (read low quality) resolution, and it saves them on SD card.

Pros:
  • cheap
  • Super stable, awesome craft for beginners, would recommend for anyone starting in this hobby.
  • Excelent and bright LEDs, you can see the craft from really far away.
  • cheap and easy to extend range via super simple TX mod http://www.instructables.com/id/Quadcopter-Range-Hack/

Cons:
  • Somewhat bulky and low weight, as such really hard to fly in windy conditions.
  • Yaw rate doesn't scale with high mode, and is really poor.
  • low range with default TX antenna
I bought all the spare parts, and after much abuse i replaced 1 prop (one of the props on the quad was bent on arrival) 2 prop guards, and 4 motors, nothing else...

You won't regret buying it...

EDIT 15.04.2016: I fly it with Turnigy 9x with goebish multi module in JR slot.

I've had mine for 2weeks and I'm very impressed with its ability to survive crashes, and how it fly's, two of my mates have bought one as well after seeing me fly mine, and they are impressed, a great starter drone, would recommend,

Great quad, haven't broken anything on mine except for a few scuffs and scratches.

That's pretty cool.. Does that module work with the stock 9X TX module or the Frsky one?

How is it connected to the Syma?

the module is TX side module, its connected in the JR slot. i even printed out an enclosure for it Smile

you need to enter Syma mode (Elevator down + Aileron left = Syma X5C-1/X11/X11C/X12) while powering on the TX for the first time... every subsequent turning on leaves it in that mode until you change it.... i also bought H8 mini, works charms with the same module Smile (Elevator up + Aileron right = EAchine H8(C) mini, BayangToys X6/X7/X9, JJRC JJ850, Floureon H101 ...)

So if it works in a JR slot, we could theoretically use it on a taranis?
