The discussion has helped so if it stays even I may end up just going for whatever. Admittedly the quality issues reported have almost completely turned me off of the Eagle somewhat so I'll probably go with the old swift or the foxeer

You really can't go wrong with the HS1177.

It looks like the old swift is ahead. I think possibly because of a couple of swift micro votes in there but that's OK.

The thing is I've pretty much ruled out the eagle and the HS1177 and Swift are pretty much equivalent cameras from two different brands. So now it's just a battle of the brands? (pun intended)

I don't have much experience in this RC/FPV/quadcopter world, but I did pretty extensive research before buying components for my first (current) racing quad.

And the HS1177 was the winner for me, based on the positive reviews and good price. 

BUT... My very first FPV flight ended up being a total failure. At bench everything worked fine, but in the field, as soon as the throttle went above 50%, I started to lose signal, until it was completely gone at around 60-70%. I turned down the throttle and the picture was OK again. It was quite obvious that the problem was related to vibrations. 

After opening up the camera, I noticed that the soldering was pretty awful and sure enough, one of the sensor pin was loose. I resoldered it and it has been working well ever since.

I bought the defective HS1177 from Banggood. I complained about the problem, and to my surprise, they actually sent me a new HS1177 for free, letting me keep the old one (now fixed and working)  It all happened about a month ago and I received the new, free, camera yesterday.

So there... that's my experience with HS1177. I probably was just unlucky to get the bad unit, because there are so many good reviews about it and very few bad ones.

Orange > Black in this case for me.

Yellow is my favorite color, orange is a relative of yellow.

Don't get me wrong, black is groovy but it's better for base colors..

however, color doesn't help with the battle of the brands since Foxeer makes an orange HS1177

I vote orange. It's easier to find when you crash and it ejects and tries to hide in the bushes

The Swift... So that'll be the camera that I install on the Martian/Cobra build (going purely off of the votes, minus the eagle)

I can't remember which site that I had found the old swift still in stock... Since I prefered the old one to the new one, the Foxeer won out in the end...
