I've had enlightening flight experiences with other quads, noone get me wrong!, but whether my other quads would fly or not, I could always count on the Helix. As a reward, I drown her once in a while, because I enjoy zooming around sooo much that I forget about my lipos.. Any chance you can keep some of the major parts? I'd have to assume since the motors are brushless that they're probably fine, and the frame... anything else still alive? carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 Holy that thing is fast @Carl, my mate drowned his quad 3 times in the last 3 weeks, after letting it dry everything worked, no problem at all. But he's also using a gopro session which is waterproof, would be a difference with my runcams... I figured if you disarm and let everything dry that it should be OK but that it might not depending on the elements and how much shorts out upon the crash before being able to unplug. good to know that there are cases where water doesn't mean sudden and certain death! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 227 Threads: 35 Likes Received: 202 in 116 posts Likes Given: 278 Joined: Mar 2017 Reputation: 5 Posts: 227 Threads: 35 Likes Received: 202 in 116 posts Likes Given: 278 Joined: Mar 2017 Reputation: 5 (05-Sep-2017, 06:01 PM)Carl.Vegas Wrote: yeah, would definitely be a bummer to loose a camera too!... Carissimo Carlo, Ciao! ..yap, it *usually* isn't all too tragic to end up under water, like colleagues said, if water's clean The Helix dried three times without any sequels on me, but after the fourth (on vid..), the motors don't want to speed up despite their current draw being within usual range. Changed the one motor that seemed to have been hit and revised the other ones, all ran smoothly, second try: Still like one of those nightmares where you can't run, just no power coming out of your quad while it's sucking your lipo dry in no time. So part-short in the other motors, or some esc layers have become semi-conductive, or whatever.. To tell the truth, I'll keep all faulty parts for examination during the cold months, but I really want her back in the air again. She'll get four fresh motors, and four fresh esc's - she deserves it.. • Posts: 227 Threads: 35 Likes Received: 202 in 116 posts Likes Given: 278 Joined: Mar 2017 Reputation: 5 (04-Sep-2017, 07:56 PM)fftunes Wrote: Holy that thing is fast @Carl, my mate drowned his quad 3 times in the last 3 weeks, after letting it dry everything worked, no problem at all. The runcams definitely didn't like water at all. The session - in an impeccable new state - is sort of waterproof, but somehow my sessions quickly start to bend and the covers lift from the sides, which makes the entry of water easy Coating will be my next try, since I really don't like the idea of messing up my boards/quads with gooey sticky stuff that I can't solder through. Up to now, to one flying hour comes about three building hours So I don't want to waste time picking my components clean. A big container w some coating liquid you can "dip" the whole quad in and let it dry, now THAT would be my kind of coating process, but... Happy flying, everyone!
