SP racing F3 short problem
#1
I am flying a Storm type A V3 racing drone which has a SP racing F3 flight controller. On the last flight at about 20 feet off the ground, it stopped flying and dropped to the ground. No obvious damage. When I tried to start it, one of the motors would not spin. After checking, I found the the processor chip on the flight controller was shorted. All the motors and ESC's were fine. I replaced the flight controller. I flashed the flight controller and loaded the data before soldering the connector on the flight controller. With the controller installed, I started the drone and everything seemed OK. I then took it outside and tried to fly. Only 2 motors spun. After checking, the flight controlled was shorted again. I have looked over the power board and cannot find any obvious shorts or bad parts.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.

PLLarose, is it possible you have some wire that is only shorting after you move the quad around? It might look ok, but maybe when you carry it while walking or fly it, a wire moves?

You might also look beyond the PDB to see if a wire has shorted due to vibration abrasions against frame or sharp solder joints left from a cool iron.
Just some brainstorming
Best of luck

I cannot find any shorts. I checked the PDB with a magnifying glass, took the frame apart, took the ESC's loose from the arms, took the mounting screws out of all the motors to make sure they did not short the windings and came up with nothing. I am wondering if there is a part
on the PDB that might be causing the flight controller to short.
Thanks.

What do you mean that "the processor chip was shorted?" Did you identify a short on the flight controller circuit board itself beteeen pins of the micro controller? If so, how did you do that?

Yes, there are connections between pins where there should not be. I have attached a video that shows how to check for shorts.
