Sonar on Nighthawk 280 Pro
#1
Hey Gang,

Now that I'm bored with my Nighthawk 280 I think I'll just tune it for videography.  I'm hoping one of you can lend some of your knowledge and tell me how I can connect the Sonar to the skyline32 integrated FC.

I ordered a sonar module from BG a while back: http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Ultras...40313.html

I'm using this RX: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...etery.html

I don't think it's capable of cppm (1 wire for all channels).  At the moment, all 6 channels from the FC are connected to the RX

According to what I read on the interwebs and this video: .  I should connect echo and trigger it to channels 5&6.  I'm not sure if this will work, but the manual for cleanflight says I should connect it to 7&8: https://github.com/cleanflight/cleanflig...s/Sonar.md

Now... what I'm wondering about is, the Skyline32 FC does not have channels 7&8.  Where do I connect the sonar?

Thanks for your help.

the skyline32 is literally the same as Naze32...
i know on Naze32 you use spare motor pin 5 and 6 for sonar sensor on a quad:

But I don't think the nighthawk 280 integrated FC has these motor pin out... you might have to tab the legs on the processor chip hehe....

wait a minute, i just found this, where you don't have motor pin5 and 6, you can actually use RC pin 7 and 8 if you are running PPM or SBUS... in case you are running a hexacopter or something Smile

But bugger... that integrated FC has no RC pin 7 and 8... what a shame!

Ok I plugged in the trigger & echo on chan 5&6 and it seems like it was working.  At the very least I was able to see the sensor picking up signals.  Unfortunately chan 5&6 were being used by my TX for aux 5&6(as switches).

I think I'll have to flash my receiver so it's able to work with cppm, this way it actually frees up motor 5&6
