Bored and got to watching some old clips from summer! This is my bulletproof 100mph Rustler geared down to play on the baseball fields with my kiddos This one is my favorite! Love my little man! Dust trails sand angels and a crash into the cam! (Yes... Sand Angels are a thing! Lol) Waiting for spring! Thx for looking Posts: 1,504 Threads: 83 Likes Received: 944 in 654 posts Likes Given: 2,142 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 24 Wow man that thing really MOVES! Even geared down it's probably faster than my 2.8l turbo charged... diesel pickup! And built like it is, I can run a 5200mah 3s pack for about 30 minutes HARD on dirt and grass without overheating a damn thing lol. Only stock parts left are upper and lower chassis. Besides rx and tx which is perfect anyways • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 Lol when i read the post i thought you were gonna drive it in FPV... maybe it would be possible... on a SALT LAKE Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 (01-Feb-2017, 04:20 AM)fftunes Wrote: Lol when i read the post i thought you were gonna drive it in FPV... maybe it would be possible... on a SALT LAKE Lmao I actually have plans to set it up fpv once i get my goggles! (I swear if I was rich I would be the first to do so many things lol) Should be easy to do though with one of the AIO micro fpv set-ups. Just have to mount it to the front shock tower and give it clean power (in theory, top geared @ full throttle on 6s in an 8lb truck is a lot of current lol) I have strapped a cam to the front before (I'll try to dig some up and share or make some new ones) because it is awesome seeing it on cam fpv lean when cornering and looking at the clouds when doing a wheelie. But to do it all in real-time..... PRICELESS! On a "soft" truck respectively rough terrain it might even make sense to have an old naze or something with servos to stabilize the cam... BTW for clean fpv power it would probably be easiest to just use a small extra 2s battery? BTW for clean fpv power it would probably be easiest to just use a small extra 2s battery? They do make gyros for rc cars now. Became popular with drift cars (comes factory on several types now, even monster trucks)and now can applied in high speed applications like my Rustler to maintain control(guys with custom 1:1 gearing mod have reached over 160mph! with they same motor/esc setup I use). But thats cheating in my eyes for a high speed ground vehicle, its easy to build a rig that will break 100mph. Its not easy to actually do it and control it But thats me being an old school experienced LOS driver. For an fpv controled rig its an excellent idea tho! Gimbal mounted for rock crawlers even lol. And +1 on the independent lipo for cam/vtx! Would even be incredibly easy to mount it to my upper chassis plate via some Dremeled slots and a strap! Haha cant wait for my goggles now! • Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 We might just be on to the next trend in ground vehicles here. This is just my opinion but if you are just getting into ground vehicles, for RTR, Traxxas anything is very hard to beat(apart from thier drones, I haven't tried any). Many many options and NEVER a shortage of parts and community support. 1:16-1:18 scale is a great place to start too. And with brushless they are no slouch! • Posts: 634 Threads: 56 Likes Received: 335 in 196 posts Likes Given: 183 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 15 "get up it is not snow" made me giggle if this deamon is the "geared down" version... and it can flip on start... i wonder did you have a start procedure like dont push the throttle further than 10% for each 5 seconds or it will flip if you push throttle to max... moon will be destroyed. Lol. Yeah full throttle on start and it intantly flips upside down. My ESC is highly tunable and actually has something called "launch control" lmao where I can set how easy it fades into full throttle even when i smash it as fast as i can. But even @ its highest setting its not enough to keep the front down. Just aids in getting some traction. For offroad tracks though I keep it set low to snap the truck loose and into a drift when needed. Note: that wheelie in the first clip is delicate throttle control lol • Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 31-Mar-2017, 09:44 PM (This post was last modified: 01-Apr-2017, 12:00 AM by Drone0fPrey.) • |
