I did try the second triumph on the goggles, but I found the aomway to perform better as a receiver antenna. It could be random, as I only tested it once, and it wasn't very much difference. Could be other causes as well. Anyway, since the triumph come as a pair, now I got two of them for two different quads • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 I'm staying with Aomway, cheap and crash-proof. I only managed to damage one (one of the leaves broke at one end, easily soldered back together). • Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 (19-Dec-2016, 11:06 AM)fftunes Wrote: I'm staying with Aomway, cheap and crash-proof. Especially if the antenna is mounted so it could be hit by the props in a crash. I have destroyed several of them where I assume that the lobes got ripped off by the props. But if you can find the lobe, it is easy as you say to solder it back on Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 19-Dec-2016, 01:43 PM (This post was last modified: 19-Dec-2016, 01:45 PM by fftunes.) I don't doubt that a prop could completely destroy the aomway antennas. But on the other extreme, i had more than one crash where they were exposed to the full impact force (basically "landed" on the antenna, lol), and even though they had funny shapes after that, they all continued working without a problem. However, all those big clover leaf antennas aren't the lightest. Does anybody here have experience with small linear antennas, like the one for example mattystuntz is testing here? I'm wondering wether this would be good enough if NOT used with diversity and dedicated ground station. In my experience cloverleaf on goggles / fatshark plastic-stick antenna on quad wasn't any worse than cloverleaf on both, but that antenna in the video is extremely small... • Posts: 634 Threads: 56 Likes Received: 335 in 196 posts Likes Given: 183 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 15 i've flown on stripped dipole antenna on fpv when i was down on the cloverleafs... in result i've bought one dedicated from BG... range was good, video was good only issue it was destroyed in first crash only time i've seen the "bad signal" was having the cloverleafs RHCP and LHCP... but when i had cloverleaf + dipole i was good All the best Grzesiek (Grisha/ Greg) Curently flyable: Nox 5, Minimalist 112 Bench / in progres: fixing Nox 3, Scrap thinking about building: 450 Posts: 947 Threads: 66 Likes Received: 350 in 248 posts Likes Given: 164 Joined: Apr 2016 Reputation: 34 (19-Dec-2016, 01:43 PM)fftunes Wrote: Having ripped off rx antennas before, i got very cautious about parts that could get into prop arc. That antenna on the picture is the same as what's inside the plastic-stick antenna. I have de-sticked a couple of them and use them on micros. I have flown about hundred meters away without issues, but I do use realacc rx5808 diversity and a patch antenna on my goggles. |
