Skyzone V4 Goggles
#1
Personally I found the new V4 Skyzone goggles (if you do the FatShark fan face plate mod) are a better set of goggles than the FS SE or the Dominator V3.

I tried to get a good picture with the FatShark SE's and just couldn't get them to work well for me and my eyes. Trust me, I WANTED them to work. I sold them and picked up a pair of the new v4 Skyzones and within ten minutes, had the new covered fan model Fatshark face plate to where it clips on and no light leaks in at all. Just a little dremel tool work on the fan faceplate and she clicks right into place.

The Skyzone V4 goggles are 16:9 with 40ch including raceband Dual Diversity with a built in DVR and even a front camera. No need to buy the module separately means money / hassle saving.

Unlike the SE's I had no trouble at all transitioning from looking into the sun to going in shadows and it is the EXACT same equipment and settings that I used with the Fatshark SE goggles

After flying about a few days here is what I found that sets these goggles apart.

1) Easy color OSD that displays battery/sd card/record time/ Band/channel. It displays along the top edge in color for about 3-4 seconds when any button is pushed

2) CHANNEL SCAN AND STRENGTH - This is cool, pull it up and with one press, it scans and shows signal on a graph with each channel and then locks into and displays the channel and frequency

3) Nice Color OSD for brightness/color/contrast and MANY other things (4 pages of things)

4) DVR that plays back

5) Built In Dual Diversity. I was impressed with the Furious FPV dual diversity that I got for the SE goggles. It was FAR better than the diversity on my Skyzone v1 goggles. These however are even better than the Furious/FS that I had.

6) Built in front camera - On my v1's I never used the front camera because I did not think it looked that good through it. This camera on the V4 however is much better, much clearer and you dont seem to be a mile away.

7) COST! I got these that sold for $339 shipped and got an additional $18 in a sale, so I picked up another battery and the FS fan faceplate and still was well below the SE cost with dual diversity.

One bummer is that I wish the DVR would pick up the osd for the goggles. It does on the quad of course but not the goggles. I will post some video but here are some phone pics of the goggles with the installed Fat Shark Faceplate.

Hi Overdischarged,

I'm also looking at purchasing a pair of goggles but am split between Fatshark and Skyzone.  I guess cost is plays the biggest part on deciding which to go for apart from the features offered.

And after reading your post which you got the Skyzone V4 for $339 almost got me putting down my money on the same pair of goggles as you have.

However, when I search through the internet the only site selling this V4 is www.fpvmodel.com which I find it strange because I went to www.skyzone.com.cn and there's no mention on their site about this V4 model you mentioned.

Skyzone's site only showed the lastest released model to be Skyzone SKY02S V+ 5.8G 40CH 3D FPV Goggles on 27th July 2016.  I'm confused with the versions of skyzone's goggles, it seems that the lastest version is V+ and it cannot be retailing at $339.....if it's really at $339 a pop then I will buy a dozen Big Grin

So can anyone please clarify?  Many thanks in advance.

A lot of times these Chinese companies don't get their sites/products updated. It's best to check with FPVMoel/Skyzone directly i think.
FPVModel is a legit vendor, i don't think they would make up fake products Smile

Yes and this is the only pair I found that says Skyzone V4. Is this the goggle you got for that amazing price?

You are right, updating website is like a taboo in most Chinese companies. I'm certain fpvmodel is a legit company and believe they aren't selling fake products. Just need verification on Skyzone's models. This RC hobby on its own is already confusing in many ways even for veteran hobbyist because technology is ever changing but the biggest culprit is the lack of proper documentation in my opinion.
