Skyzone or Fat Shark
#1
Hi everyone,

I've been looking at getting a set of goggles for my quad but I'm not sure which ones to get. Currently I've been looking at the Skyzone V2's and the Fat Shark Dominator V3 goggles.

The Skyzone goggles offer better value but I have heard of reliability problems with them. Also with the Dominator V3's do I have to buy a receiver?

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

I shall share my views but will not recommend either brand to you, The decision of course is yours.

I have 2 pairs of Skyzones Goggles, The V and V2 and have 1 pair of Fatshark V2's (blue and white ones)

The Skyzone V1 goggles worked great for about 3 months and then the outside camera packed in and never worked again, The goggles continued to work fine and have done so for over 12 months despite the front camera going out.
The Skyzones V2's have worked flawlessly for me for about 8 months or so that I have had them but I have read reports where other people have had nothing but trouble.

The Fatshark V2's are good goggles but picture quality (in my view) is not as good as either model of the skyzones.

The Skyzones come with dual diversity receivers whereas the Fatsharks come with none and even when you buy one it will still be a singular receiver.

The Skyzone V2's come with a built in OSD to show you Band and channels, DVR recording and goggle battery status and low voltage alarm.

For me The Skyzones are my goggles of choice, but, should they fail I shall switch over to my next favourite pair which is the Flysight SPX01 Spexman One .

The Fatsharks I use only as my spectator set.

Hope this helps you a little.

I can order the Skyzone goggles from the UK for a good price, so if they break I will just send them back. I like the fact Skyzone have everything included in the box, I will get those.

Thanks for the help.

Is there actually any point in using the external camera?

Probably not, more of a gimmick than anything else.

The external camera is a bit gimmicky for sure, but I did find it useful a few times when just doing a battery change without removing my goggles  (you know when you have the goggles fitting real nice).

Also found it real handy when wandering around the house with my goggles on...Just Cause.    LOL

But overall the external camera is not warranted, I only mentioned the camera because as a feature of the goggles it broke  after a period of time.
