Skyzone CobraX stain in image
#1
Hi there. Im new here and as i did not found a separate category for Skyzone Cobra X goggles, im hoping to post in right category here.
I want to ask help or advice with my Skyzona Cobra X goggles. Today i noticed a stain in the image that was not present before...
it looks like a hair, it is straight, not too long, placed in the bottom right corner of the image...
It does not blocks the pixels completelly, only makes the image a bit darker, but still can see through.
I disassembled the goggles following a guide on youtube. I verified there is no dirt nor visible damage nor on the lens, mirror, half mirror, nor the screen itself...
The stain/scratch does not comes from the camera, i have try with different drones, the stain is present in the image from all of them...
The stain is not present on the recorded image...
Do anyone here has the same experience, any tips how to get rid of this?
Thank you

Im not sure what may have caused this but probably its the LCD screen starting to go faulty.

Did you contact SkyZone? Don’t tell them you dis-assembled the goggles which usually means you have void the warranty.

No, i did not contacted them yet... I would like to avoid sending in the goggles as i have no others and sending in can cost much in shipping fees and can take months to get my goggles back...

Is it a shadow? If not then it's quite possible that the optics or the screen itself has a manufacturing defect in which case your only option is a warranty return unless you are prepared to live with the defect.

Skyzone do have a repair centre in the EU so you shouldn't have to send them back to China.

Most problems I hear of are from people setting their goggles down facing the sun. But that normally burns a brighter spot on the screens, not a darker spot.

You said it is not present in the recorded image, do you mean in the goggles DVR footage it is not there?

Yes, thats exactly what i meant. The DVR recording of the goggles is perfectly clean

In that case it's a manufacturing defect, so a warranty return is your only option if you want the issue rectified.

I don't understand why it would be there in live transmission, but NOT in the DVR footage viewed through the goggles. That is very strange.

My understanding was that the defect is not visible when the DVR is viewed on another device (i.e. VLC Media Player a computer). Maybe the OP can clarify that.

Yes, exactly - when the recording is viewed on an other device, the stain is not there.

Oh, that makes sense now. Wink

Sorry I'm just used to only using DVR in my goggles to find a crashed quad, not on other devices. So I thought it wasn't there in the goggles when viewing DVR footage. Now THAT would be a mystery!

If it is always there in the goggles then unfortunately a warranty repair might be only way. Or if you got them through a good vendor and recently you could ask the vendor about it, maybe they will swap them out with another pair. But if these aren't new goggles then getting it repaired or a new screen put in might be the only fix.

Thank you all. Seems there is no other way or trick but sending them in
