Skyzone 04X Video issues
#1
Hello,

a few days ago I bought the Skyzone 04X V2 goggles to replace my Eaching EV100. The FOV is amazing but I've been having some issues with getting my video to clear up. Specifically, the video feed is blurry, I see horizontal lines and the image is grainy. Actually, I don't see a difference with the video feed of Eaching EV100 and this worries me. As a side note I am using the stock antennas but I did try TBS omni with the same result.

I am including a short video of the flight to give you a better idea and I would appreciate your thoughts.

Many thanks,
Thomas.

That looks like the normal video we see in most analog feeds.

Horizontal lines or grainy feeds may be caused by several things: you may have a noisy voltage regulator, or need a capacitor/bigger capacitor, or could be electrical noise in your setup (mounting components with as much gap as possible and twisting wires helps), or broken vtx antenna/connector, or antenna quality/polarization, or RF interference in the area (although in your case I see you are flying in a fairly open location).

For me I would live with it because you can end up going around in circles without much improvement in the end or check/change one thing at a time to see if anything makes a positive difference.

TBH I also don't think you have anything to complain about with that feed. It is way better than anything I've ever got, and as with kafie I just live with it and enjoy the fun rather than worrying about or spending hours trying to get ultra clean video which will never happen with analogue. If that is what you want then you need to switch to digital.

Thank you for your feedback. Since you have more experience with top of the line goggles this puts my mind at ease a bit.

I will try using different antennas to decrease the grainy feed. It's just that I was expecting a better image than my Eaching EV100 which only cost 100Euro.

You'll only get a feed as good as the VTX can provide it. Nothing in any goggles can magically make the video feed better than what is being received. If anything, a bigger FOV can actually make a feed look worse because all of any "defects" are magnified. What you do get with higher end goggles is better clarity from the OLED screens, a VRX module with a higher sensitivity, and a lot more features (pictures settings, decent DVR etc.). But that said, even high end analogue goggles are a rip-off for what you actually get. It's all down to supply and demand. The FPV hobby is so small that manufacturers can't order the components in big enough bulk to get the cost down for customers, so we pay through the nose for what is quite a basic product. The OLED screens is what makes up most of the cost because when ordered in small quantities, the likes of Sony etc. charge a fortune for them.
