Similar? Ummagawd Remix vs GEPRC KX5
#1
Just saw this new frame, Ummagawd Remix from Rotor Riot...

And it really minds me of the GepRC KX5 that has been around for a while...

Are chinese frames getting cloned? ROFL Rolleyes
But I am sure the Remix is a much better frame with the improved design!

The camera cage seems more solid on the banggood frame

I remember seeing tommy say something about designing a frame that was all about center of gravity vertically. So this must be what he meant... I don't think I am quite ready to go for overslung yet, even in this case.

Damn sexy chassis. Interesting idea mounting the battery sideways too. I do prefer the carbon camera cage to the aluminum one personally. I'm not sure about the aluminum clip for the balance leads, or the weight ( over 100g ).
Flying: Talon 6S 6" 2407s 381g no bat, Martian 3, 5" 2205s sooo heavy + gopro session 5 573g AUW, Aurora 5" 2205s 280g no bat, Druckbaer 3" 1404s 172g AUW 3S 550, BQE Megapixel 2.5" 1107s 139g AUW 3S 550, BabyHawk R 2.5" 164g AUW 3S 550 (stock except microeagle, CRSF, 2.5" arms) and maybe 3 more, for now...

On paper this is a very good frame but apparently there's no way to mount HD camera in a way that leaves the props out of view so it's not for me.
Still waiting for Armattan Rooster to be released, seems to be like the ultimate freestyle frame.

although, I did put a 3d printed camera mount on top of my diatone yesterday giving over 50 degrees of angle but the video came out OK... so maybe the same could be done here. These days I am flying at 45 degrees FPV anyway so it's not too much of a difference from what I see in the goggles

Hi Guys. I just came across this thread and joined the forum so that I can chime in. My name is Ryan and I'm one of the engineers that worked on the Remix.

About the GEPRC frame - The Remix has been in development for over a year, and Tommy wasn't ever shy to hide it from social media or keep it out of view during development. We suspect that the GEPRC frame was likely just their take on a similar concept. Not really a clone, but maybe more of an "homage"?

I also wanted to point out that the Remix frame can be set up for "no props in view" with a 3D printed mount. We designed a few during the alpha phase, but Tommy actually likes to see his props. And he wanted to give the companies that make session mounts a chance to design their own products for the frame. We left "accessory" attachment locations specifically for that purpose. One of our beta testers received a kit with a missing camera bar, so he immediately printed his own mount that has no props in view.

Dude, nice!! Cannot say I have ever seen some of the engineers pop up. Do you guys fly too? Or more of a design and done kind of thing? Thanks for the info. I love the design, but am not entirely sold on it just yet. Would seem like it might be awkward in crashes as well.

I'm new to drones but I haven't seen a lot of chamfered edges on frames. Really a nice touch of important detail imo.
