Sequre A110 soldering iron was defective and they want me to attempt to repair it??
#1
I got a A110 and it’s getting a reading that it has a bad heating element.
Sequre wants me to take it apart and attempt to repair it but that will void the warranty.
The soldering iron won’t hold its temperature settings and temperature goes up and down from a bad element.
They say it’s a bad solder joint but taking it apart and attempting to repair it just seems like they know items are sent out defective.
I used PayPal but PayPal doesn’t seem to do claims anymore?

PayPal claims suck. They only deal with you if you don't receive an item. Once received, they don't care if it works or not. When possible, I always use my credit card straight.

I always recommend a good soldering iron. Mine last for decades.

Yes, I've found PayPal to be worthless. They give it all the talk about "payment protection" but the reality seems to be very different when it comes to the crunch. Always use your credit card if buying something you want real payment protection on. I only tend to use PayPal as a convenience for low value items (eBay purchases) these days.

Unless you need a portable iron then get yourself a proper bench iron. They are far more useful in my experience. I have a TS80 portable soldering iron but I've only ever used it once, and that was to repair my bench soldering iron, so I had no choice but to use that one.

A Hakko or Weller are probably the best brands. I have a Chinese "Yihua" branded bench iron / hot air rework station which has been doing me fine for probably more than 5 years apart from that minor repair I needed to do (temp sensor wire came loose from the circuit board inside the wand).

Yes PayPal protection is basically non existent and some vendors hide behind PayPal.

Here’s a few pics of soldering joints they say are creating the problem. It’s the green/blue and red wires going to element.
I reflowed them since they asked but it still blinks the code of defective heating element.
There’s a temperature probe, wire loop, and whether it’s supposed to be soldered on both ends I don’t know but one end is not connected to pad.
Maybe someone will know if both ends should be soldered to pad.
The solder joint of red wire on element is a bit small but it’s connected.

Here’s a picture of  they sent to do to fix problem. The wire loop in picture looks to be soldered to pad on both ends but picture is a bit blurry and it’s a different iron.
The wire loop on theirs I can’t tell if both ends are soldered to pad but on mine the wire loop is only soldered on one end then the other touches pad but isn’t connected by solder.
I don’t know if the wire loop is a test connection or part of temperature sensor.

I can't make out too much in the pictures but the one that shows the red wires, that "loop" to the right of the writing v1.3 is that pad lifted off the board? Beyond that I can't see too much, the post after this doesn't appear to be loading the image.

It's almost trolling to have a vendor tell you to open your broken soldering iron and solder something inside of it.  Thinking

It really aggravated me when they said to repair it and send pictures of work.It just didn’t feel like the thing to do and what if I break it??
I do their repair work and the time  it takes taking video and emails.
I luckily have another soldering iron but what about a beginner.
The odds they mess up the joints which is very likely when you have not soldered before.

I guess there’s some truth to the squeaky wheel gets the grease for they are sending a replacement out.
If they send a working replacement I’d have to recommend Sequre.
I have their SQ-001 and it works perfectly but this one should have been tossed in reject bin.

Sequre ended up sending me a good iron.Actually two good irons after sending out 2 defective ones.
I think they may have gotten a better heating element update.
These new A110 are decent irons.
