Sending a GoPro to space :D
#1
Markus Grocholewski shared his project with me how he sent a weather balloon to space with 2 Gopro cameras mounted on it. The footage is just amazing Big Grin
He didn't have a youtube account so I posted a short clip with his permission.

Here is his story:

I really am shocked that it landed within a days driving distance. With wind currents it seems like sending something up to the stratosphere would mean it could potentially go a really, really long way away before coming down. Cool story!

The Earth is such a marvel, and what gentle landing. Stunning!

It should actually have landed within 45mins of driving distance, but they didn't calculated the amount of Helium needed accurately Big Grin
I am surprised too that it didn't fly further away Smile

Wow, that's a cool video....and like the rest of you, surprised it came down so close to the takeoff point.  It scared the crap out of my dog who was asleep on my lap when the balloon popped!  Big Grin

That is incredible! I imagine there were a lot of unknowns in sending a Gopro into space.

I like to know who will be doing the same with a race quad? Wink
