I currently have cheap ebay receiver, but I am looking for something better and with diversity. First receivers that I saw were FR632 and RD40. However since I will be building ground station, I will take my new receiver apart. And there comes the RX5808, diy diversity receiver. As I am looking at it, I could make quadruple diversity from it cheaply, but I don't know how single RX5808 is sensitive at receiving signal, so I don't know if it is worth it. Also I don't understand how it can receive 40 channels since single RX5808 is 8ch receiver.
RX5808 worth using? |
28-Jul-2016, 09:51 PM Unless I misunderstand your question, you don't need to take the FR632 apart to utilize it in a ground station. There are a couple of good you tube vids that should you how to use a small plastic storage bin to house all your components for a ground station...I guess depending on what your interpretation of a ground station is. For me, I've got the FR632 velcroed to the back of an 8" monitor and made up a small wiring harness to power the receiver and the monitor from a Lipo and set the who arrangement on a tripod. I may have misunderstood what you meant and there are tons of people on her more knowledgeable then I. Good luck with it!! "Damn the torpedoes!!! Full speed ahead!!!" 29-Jul-2016, 01:17 AM The FR632 is a super compact and very reliable dual diversity receiver and is excellent as a ground station. You can use 2 of these joined together with an Oracle box and have quad diversity should you wish., I have thought of doing this often, but given I fly racer/freestyle quads my overall range is not that far and my dual diversity setup works very well when coupled with a Spironet antenna and a Helical. I have a RX5808 pro with 40 channels and have put it in a 3D printed case, This also works very well and is easily as good as the FR632 . The difference here is, overall the RX5808 does require some work on your part and a case so once done the cost will be similar to a ready to go FR632. Personally, if I was to do it all again I would simply get the FR632, it is a quick work out of the box receiver. I want to take it apart, because my ground station will be one box with everything (except googles). I will put display and button from receiver to front panel. Anyway, I will go then for FR632. It will be difinatelly better receiver than my current one. EDIT: My friend is selling unused ImmersionRC DUO5800 v4.1 Race Edition quite cheaply, for the price of FR632 on banggood. Is it better than FR632? |
