rx to tx bind help
#1
I'm attempting to bind a used dsm2 sat( from my cp helicopter ) to my dx6i . So far it hasn't gone into bind mode.
I used a volt meter and have 3.3v on my flip32 f4 board at port where rx plugs in.

In Betaflight I have :
On port tab UART1 for serial rx ( on ) and USB VCP ( on).
Config tab spektrum1024
Receiver tab jr/spektrum/graupner

In CLI I typed
set spektrum_sat_bind_autorst=0 ( enter )
save ( enter )

Ive tried this with and without flight battery plugged in.
I do have another used dsm2 sat I could try.
Finally ,  I have a green steady light that comes on and a blue light that comes on and flashes.
What is blue light indicating?
On next attempt do I retype the CLI command . Is there way in CLI to check if my command is saved.

Thank you for your help

You need to also say 'set spektrum_sat_bind=x'

where x is a number that defines the protocol and frame size that you want to bind.

For DSM2 and 22ms(1024 bit), this would be 3.
For DSM2 and 11ms(2048 bit) it would be 5.

(documentation)

After you 'save' the command, you must power off the flight controller. Your satellite will be powered from the flight controller by USB, so you don't need to connect the flight battery.
When you connect the USB again, the LED on the satellite should start to flash. You can then start the bind from your DX6i. When binding is complete, the LED on the satellite will turn on and not blink.
It is not relevant what the LEDs on your flight controller do for this process.
If the satellite LED does not start blinking when you power up again after saving the bind command, then either your satellite is not connected properly, your firmware does not support satellite binding or you have not set up the ports correctly in Betaflight.

Once binding is successful, go to the CLI, 'set spektrum_sat_bind=0' and save.

Also, looking at your photo, there is a dedicated satellite receiver socket right next to the USB connector.

The satellite will only work when connected to this socket. You cannot put it into bind mode unless it is connected to this socket. The socket accepts the same plug as you use to connect the satellite to the main receiver - i.e. a standard satellite cable.

With rx plugged into FC and protocol set at 3 I did get rx to blink once.

Its a start Smile

Tried it also with protocol at 5 and rx also blinked once.

Will keep looking

Even simpler, just connect it to a full receiver and bind it. Then you can disconnect it from the full receiver, connect it to your flight controller and it's already bound!

After all, the binding is between the satellite and your radio, not the satellite and your flight controller.

Which receiver would you recommend.

And, thank you for your help

That would work, but I was thinking that you already had a full sized receiver.

Still, it's useful to have as you'll always be able to bind any satellite just by connecting it to the full sized receiver and powering that up with a battery.

I have run into the problem where it was impossible to bind a satellite on certain flight controllers before. My solution is that I have an old Naze32 flight controller that always binds a satellite without problems, so I just plug the satellite into that and bind.

Also, depending on where you live and the age of your DX6i, the newer EU versions of that radio don't support DSM2, they only support DSMX.
