Rushfpv solo tank and smoke stopper issues
#1
I have a question on an issue that is baffling my brains completely. I am rebuilding my old crashed F450 over onto a H4 68 frame still with the DJI Naza V2 FC and DJI iOSD unit that I linked to a new RushFPV Solo Tank VTX.
The smoke stopper I use is a home build 15w tail light bulb. When I power the unit up with the VTX attached the smoke stopper brights up, but not much. I've looked and re-looked at all the connections (I power the VTX directly from the iOSD unit) and I can guarantee there is no short. I've gone as far at disconnecting the aerial from the carbon fibre body just in case that was the issue, but it's not.
What I did notice though (yes I took the chance and tested it) is that as I increase the power output of the VTX, the smoke stopper brightens up, increasing with every step change. This got me to kind off wonder if the smoke stopper is not acting in the same way it would as when you spin the motors while it is connected, that there is actually no short but because of the high power draw it illuminates. Am I correct in my assumption, can someone help me please?

PS, I know this is older redundant parts but so what, building this as a "cruiser" for video along the coastline and possible future fishing excursions.

That sounds very much like what you expect - the current draw of the VTX is enough to light the bulb up.

I use a Vifly stopper rather than a bulb so it's little different, but I know I have to put the threshold on that up to 3A on some builds because it hits 1A doing the ESC startup tones and triggers. Even when doing nothing our quads are pretty power hungry these days. Especially with a big VTX.

The ground is for dead people.

Thank you so much. Actually found this from JB after I posted the question, however I appreciate the confirmation from the community.
