Since I bought my RC2 I've had problems with it powering off before a flight ends. If its caused by battery I'll get a short video... But its rarely battery. At first I thought my battery was coming loose but now I am wondering if I have something loose inside. I've lost some great flights because of this problem... Any thoughts? Anybody had similar issues? carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 5,315 Threads: 672 Likes Received: 3,155 in 1,743 posts Likes Given: 2,030 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 03-Jul-2017, 09:32 PM (This post was last modified: 03-Jul-2017, 09:32 PM by Oscar.) I purchased a product that hasn't been working as it should since day one that your company made. I ask for support and I am given suggestions that are COMPLETELY irrelevant to my situation (note, I am mentioning power issues from the battery and USB cable these have a common root cause that is not the battery in most electronics) And a suggestion that the battery might be dead. When requesting you to make a correction to the fact that your company shipped a product with power issues where your support team suggests that it may be the battery you refuse to fix the problem? To me, this is very sub-standard of a customer experience. I understand that you guys are leaders in your field but this kind of support really doesn't lend itself to being a good partner in the industry. I am not asking for a "free battery" or anything. I am expecting runcam to make a defective product right. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 Tbh in my eyes that's bad advice that runcam gave you. In fact i think i killed more than one battery of little action cams by using a cell phone charger which usually charge with way higher amps than the normal 0.5A from computer USB ports... I have a runcam 2 that seems to have either a short (less likely) or an unreliable connection to power sources (battery and USB-more likely). I'll be happy to provide photographs. B: You can provide me with RMA information and I can send the camera back to be troubleshot but your technicians (probably the best idea) C: you can send me a replacement and instruct me on how to return or dispose of the defective product. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 If you don't get satisfaction after that, you might add: "By the way, I am a frequent participant on intoFPV, a site that you guys sponsor, and which is the reason I bought a Runcam in the first place." I forgot that they're a sponsor here... well... hopefully if this ends well it'll show that they can do the right thing... although already it shows that they're short on support. I definitely don't want to cause any problems for this site's sponsorships, but at the same time being a sponsor of my favorite FPV site doesn't make up for the defective product. I'll likely ask for escalation to a supervisor next and let them know about this thread. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 No reply in about 6 days... time for another email to them. me Wrote:Runcam Support, It has been nearly a week since your last email and I still do not have a resolution. Sounds like you get what you pay. Gopro at least will warranty their stuff. What is the point of an action camera if you can't bang it around? I have seen the gopro rotor riot use, they looked bang up and still working. We have similar problems, and it is not isolated. Others are having the same problem, but no solution. Maybe Oscar, since Runcam support this forum, can pull some strings to get our camera fixed or replaced. No pressure Oscar. • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 (27-Jul-2017, 05:18 AM)voodoo614 Wrote: Sounds like you get what you pay. Regardless of the price I expect a middle of the road product when I buy from a brand like runcam. I didn't pick this one because of the price, I picked it because of the reviews that said it's a great middle-of-the-road action cam. Also, any retail boxed item that is warranteed, the manufacturer has an obligation to make it right when their products are defective irrespective of price. Any manufacturer that avoids that obligation is out of integrity and shouldn't be trusted with my money. And TBH, RC is about 2 emails (or lack thereof) away from not ever getting my money again. Which is too bad since I had just started to prefer the mounts on their FPV cameras. I'll keep my fingers crossed for us both that we're not being taken advantage of and it's just situations waiting for the right customer service agent to grab the case and treat customers with respect. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 Next installment: runcam Wrote:> RUNCAM SUPPORT (Customer Services) > > Jul 27, 11:40 CST > > The battery for Runcam 2 is sold separately on our website for 12.99 > dollars. 6 dollars compensation is half of the price. At this point you are ignoring what I've been telling you and now just pushing a common theme back at me. This is NOT A BATTERY ISSUE. To help show you that it's not a battery issue and that it's also not a USB charger issue as suggested in an early reply I've uploaded a video to youtube showing the flickering power light with the battery being removed and plugged into a USB charger rather than a computer. If you still insist that it's a battery issue then I will purchase an additional battery under 2 conditions: Full purchase price and shipping price of battery will be refunded to me when you are wrong about it being the issue. A new device will be overnighted to me immediately after showing that it was never the battery Otherwise, please start showing me a little more respect and help me troubleshoot the problem that I am having with your warranteed product. I wonder at what point does a commonly defective product like this make it worthwhile for a lawyer to file a class action suit... my guess is that an $80 camera that is used by a niche community probably isn't enough but I really wish it was. As I search more and more it looks like this isn't just an issue for me but that others have had the issue as well and typically they have to open their devices up to fix it. On top of that the devices look different inside... very strange indeed. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • |
