Runcam Split
#76
Looks like RunCam just came out with the Split 2!

See: http://shop.runcam.com/runcam-split-2/

5V - 17V input power.
Metal cover for the board and 'push/click' microSD card holder with safety tab to stop the card popping out in a crash.
End mounting WiFi interface.

It wasn't broken when I saw it.

Maybe they accidentally put it up by mistake. It's gone now, that's for sure.

Big Grin

At least I managed to grab a copy of the image while I was there or nobody would believe me!

I always feel cheated when buying a product and then they update it and make it "better" a few weeks afterwards.
A well ... guess they changes aren't huge and the old one is still fine.
Wonder if it does a good job filtering out the noise when connected to a 4s lipo directly.

I really hope there's some beefy filtering on the Split 2. As we all know, the electrical environment on a quad's battery power rails is downright hostile. Blowing up Split boards with active braking would be no fun at all.

I found a better picture of the Split 2.

Looks nice, liking the WIFI solution even though I never used my module.
Does that case act as a heathsink? is it there to prevent noise? Just a spacer? Anyone knows?

It doesn't look like a heatsink as the place where there are slots cut in the shield are where the video processor is. It's probably noise shielding and a bit more protection for the board.

Geez, that didn't take long, I haven't even had time to remove my original Split from the box yet.

I think that might have something to do with the fact that RunCam pulled the Split 2 from their shop. They need to sell their stocks of the original Split first!

Yes, and I also suspect that a lot of other vendors who are selling them complained heavily to RunCam!

Gosh you guys got to it quicker than I did Smile
I actually got hold of a prototype of the V2 and listed the hardware differences in this post:
https://oscarliang.com/runcam-split-v2-camera/

I don't know if it's worth it testing it because there will be some other changes to it for sure... maybe I will do it anyway..
