Runcam 3 - "GoPro Session Size/Shape" Camera
#31
Now the Runcam site says that they'll ship on April 10th... I think I'll wait until they're actually shipping to place an order. With the date having been pushed back a couple of times who knows if they'll stick with the 10th.

The $100 pricetag and great image quality does look attractive though!

Just pre-ordered mine. I couldnt pull the trigger on the Session because of the price tag. From what I have seen of the test footage it looks pretty good.

I might end up with one of these in my pack also, after some feedback starts coming in.
Also we might need to start a thread for comparing all these new cube cams Wink hint hint Wink Tongue

Well, got the RC3 in the mail yesterday.

Packaged nicely - RunCam sytle.

No mount - and Im a dummy and didnt put that in the cart when I ordered a month and a half ago - so now I wait again.
Aluminum mount, waterproof mount, spare lens...check.

The app seems pretty good compared to some of the others I have seen, so thats a plus - AND you can update the firmware right from the app as well!

I dont see 120 FPS (unless that is disguised as Slo-Mo) even with 720p res selected.  1080p and 720p both have 60FPS with variable bitrates.

Hm did you update it (if there is an update already)? I just remember my runcam2 couldn't do 1080p60 before updating...

I did run the one firmware update already.  v1.1 I think.
The Runcam website doesnt say 120...  Dont know if I read that it should have 120 somewhere or if I made that up in my mind now...

can anyone share some light how this camera behaves?
im using 2x runcam2 so far... and both had the design flaw... when crashed they reset (you need to put foam/paper/rubber there)

what im curious is, if runcam while designing runcam3 resolved such issues (i know the battery is not replacable), ie if anyone tried to "non intentionally" hit a tree at full speed? and check if it was recorded Smile

more issues with runcam2 ... the more i thing about this 3 Smile
All the best
Grzesiek (Grisha/ Greg)

Curently flyable: Nox 5, Nox 3, Minimalist 112, Scrap
Bench / in progres: fixing
thinking about building: 450

I personally haven't used the Runcam 2 much for flying because of the form factor. But i've used the Runcam 3 for about 10 sessions now and it's holding up well, no reset or anything. It's still recording after a crash.
One time I crashed so hard, landed right on the Runcam 3, it even broke the top plate of the frame, and no harm was done to the camera.
The important thing to remember is to use TPU camera mounts for the GoPro session, they really does the trick protecting the cam!
