Revo F4 CC3D vs Flysky ppm receiver
#1
Hey guys,

I´m working on a new build, Genius 215mm and for this I got a cheap TX/RX from Banggood, a Flysky FS-I6X that comes with a 10 channels receiver FS-IA10b
I can confirm the the bind process worked fine, and RX recognizes TX.
Wires are:
PPM/CH1 port to the board as the image shows here.[Image: 3LKA7anl.jpg]

Configured on Betaflight the Receiver mode to PPM but it doesn´t work.

I did a test with my AT9 receiver using the SBUS to CPPM converted and this works just fine.

Any idea about what could possibly be wrong ?

Thanks

This from the AirbotF4/Flip32F4 (REVO) thread on RCG: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost...tcount=265

Those pins are hardwired to UART 1. To use PPM, disable all settings on UART 1 in ports tab. (I'm not using PPM, but I have the Flip32 variant of this board and have been carefully following the thread linked above.)

Here's another handy reference (for the REVO target F4): https://quadmeup.com/flip32-f4-airbot-f4-pinout/

Hi Slocotty,

Looks like the challenge is when you use UART1, but I´m not even touching any of the connectors from this side of the board, I have only the ESCs and the receiver connected.
also checked from betaflight the configuration for the port and its all disabled.
It still does not recognized by the FC.

Please have a look on the port configuration settings.

That looks correct for UART1 settings. Since I am not using PPM, I hate to advise you further. I suggest searching the thread I linked above (on RCG) to see what people are doing (searching "ppm" gives only 3 pages of results). Some report the same problem you are, some say it works just fine. Some people are removing the sbus resistor (R19). One person even soldered the signal wire directly to the processor (to PB14). Not as many people are having problems using SBUS.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Only other thing I might suggest before doing any of that is making sure you've got the latest version of Betaflight, and maybe even trying a different target (I'm using the REVO target, but there's also an AirbotF4 target - not sure what you are using).

I noticed Trojan Goat posting on that thread - maybe he'll weigh in here. Good luck!

I´ve tried both, Revo and Airbotf4 same result.

I´ll review this, and also consider if I keep this FC or not as the radio I have for this is only ppm for now.

Thanks

Please report back here if you get it solved.  Others here might might find it useful in the future, and it would be nice to steal more traffic from RCG (instead of sending traffic to them).  Tongue

If the PPM input works with your RadioLink and RX+S.BUS to PPM converter, then you can deduce two things:

The connections are correct.
The flight controller configuration is correct.

Therefore, the problem must be with the receiver. Are you aware of the fact that when using the FlySky radios and receivers that you must use the radio to enable the PPM output on the receiver? Unless you go into the radio's menu system and enable PPM output, the receiver won't output PPM.

Hi unseen, slocotty

Yes I´m aware, you can do this configuration directly from the transmitter, there is a menu for this. I was able to test it also with a Servo (PWM) if I change it to PPM, servo stop working as expected since when using PPM on this receiver all other ports stop working (as designed). The problem is not resolved, but I gave up and installed my Radiolink set instead.

The wiring is very basic, not much to do wrong as we work with 3 pins only and there is a whole bunch of information about this :-)
And the same wiring was used by my radiolink receiver also.
With all honestly I´m kind of hating this FLIP32 board.
Another issue I had is that during the flights I had some short "blackouts" losing motors, less than 1/2 second, but is enough to be dangerous. simply replaced it by the naze32 I have on the other build.

Thanks
