Replacement antenna for the Frsky XM+
#1
Does anyone have a source for FrSky XM+ Replacement antennas?
They seem to be smaller than the UL.F connectors.

Pretty sure any IPEX/IPX/u.FL 2.4GHz antenna should work. I assume since you're using a XM+ you want something small, so try to find some shorter length ones.

Here is a link to BG.

I ordered these:

150mm IPEX 2.4ghz antenna

They are a little longer than the originals, but the additional weight is negligible.

Actually i'd recommend to get the a bit heavier antena but with addtional shield.

I believe the one Grisha recommended is actually dipole antennas which should perform better than the Frsky stock antenna which are monopole...

The downside of dipole is you cannot shorten the antenna as easy as monopole..

(getting some for myself too Smile

yup Oscar you are right, dipole
yet with the cost of those and they come in 5x and ease of change with ipex port ... you simply exchange them...
it was pain in the lower back in my Flysky 6b receiver when everything was soldered in... then i was a fan of shortening the antennas resulting now in one flying no further than 120m from me... then it failsafes Big Grin

as in "modern" rx you have ipex ... you simply can trash the old damaged one... (or keep as monopole Wink)

If you lost both antenna? I would think you could fly out to maybe 20 meters or so. I have flown out past 250 meters on a single antenna and did not even realize it was torn off. Somewhere in the flight, the zip tie broke and it fell into the props. It was not until landing that I noticed The Bugs antenna was lost.

Looking at the length of the driveway in your vids, I would think you should be fine.

If you're in the US you can get these and they work perfect for the XM+ and R-XSR.  Cut them to the size you need and won't have to wait 2-3 weeks.

okie.. hey since we are on the subject of the receiver .. i had something VERY strange happen today:  okie today, i ARM the quad... THEN instead of just spinning their slow idle spin, all of a sudden they just went crazy and sporadic and then like sped up to full throttle for a brief second (ofcourse i meanwhile disarm) and then they turn off and then there is this beeping.. what in the world WAS that ?? scared me kinda.. then.. i stood a few feet away and then ARMED again.. same thing only a little different but it was craziness and very awkward motor revs and jerks and spins and then settles again.. OFF and then beeping and again i imeediatley disarm.. SOOO.... i go inside and take a look at the xm+ reciever and just move it around and put tape around it as i thought that MAYBE the little metal pieces or something were touching something.. THEN.. i go outside and ARM again... normal.. i even hovered for a awhile.. SOO.. all that said, what do yuou think that was ? wiring ? fc ? receiver touching ? will it come back ? ever experienced this before ?   thanks yall have a good night   :0)

Likely AIR mode trying to overcome some perceived movement as the gyro settled. I have a switch set up to disable AIR if I am going to idle my quads on the ground. That is just my feeling.

Same crap happened on my Rooster today.. I did know I clipped some branches and I flew over like 200 meter or less.. And when I landed..I go oh sh!t! i missing the left side antenna lol.

So this is a IPEX 4 antenna I know for sure. .I have IPEX 1 from my Flysky, i thought it would fit, but is big and thick...  I need to Google around now, I dont want to wait for 3 week from BG.

Oooops, looks like I lost the bag of the larger IPEX connector RX antenna.  It has the part number on it from RDQ...

While we are on the subject...
I was chatting to a guy at my local field and he showed me a vid where he flew 1-2km (maybe more) using a 5dBi antenna mod on his taranis with an X8R RX. I was wondering if the PCB antennas from the X8R might improve the range on other FrSky RX? How much has range got to do with specific RX components, and how much to do with antennas?
