Do you need them to be compact or can you stand to wear a big box on your head? etc. I used the following article to make my decision on goggles: https://oscarliang.com/fpv-goggles-revie...k-skyzone/ Ultimately I'd say DoP made the Eachine Goggles 2 look pretty good for box style goggles and I've still been considering getting one of those... For compact fatsharks I'd say stick with the Dominator V3s rather than going all the way for the HD3s... it's not worth the extra $200... Then again if I were starting all over again I'd probably avoid fatsharks and go to the skyzones... So... like I said... it's compicated... either that or I cant make up my mind carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 24 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 16 in 10 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: May 2017 Reputation: 2 Depending upon how much price is an influence in your decisions (which I assume it is, since you clicked on the Cheap Build thread ), I have a couple other suggestions: Camera - $19.99 - https://www.banggood.com/600TVL-2_8mm-Le...86784.html? This is the exact same as the HS1177, just unbranded. ESC - $24 - https://www.banggood.com/4X-DYS-DS20A-20...39129.html? Brand new DYS ESC. I bought a set, they look really nice for the price. Super cheap, and incredibly small. I haven't used mine yet, but they are getting good reviews. I don't expect any problems from DYS. In terms of goggles, I can say this; I own both the Eachine EV800 and and VR008 (which I bought as passenger goggles). If you're going for the box style, make sure you get some with a higher resolution. It's very difficult to see branches and wires and little bushes with the VR008. They're okay if you just want to fly high in the sky, but useless once you start flying around things. That being said, the EV800 are on sale right now for cheap, only $55 - https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV800-5...53357.html? But they have an updated version on preorder right now, which I think is worth the extra money. Comes with diversity (will get better reception) and a DVR built in (records the video stream). It might be a little while before they ship, but you'll need time to build your quad, anyway. Eachine EV800D - $85 - https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV800D-...50119.html? Best of luck with your build! I suggest you save money where you can, because you'll be wanting to build a second quad very quickly Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 (16-May-2017, 04:51 PM)Drross Wrote: because you'll be wanting to build a second quad very quickly I can confirm this... Used the UAVFutures $99 build guide as a basis. Felt there were some things improved components that would still allow my build tone inside of a $150 overall budget. Went with an F3 FC and a better camera. It is a mix between the basic and the upgrade and all told was $114 for everything. Carl provided the link to my component list. All I am waiting on is my new charger and then programming begins. For goggles, I have Eachine VR007 Pros that work well enough for right now. I use them with my Hornet and E010S. Bright and clear, so satisfactory and inexpensive (relatively). It the 007's are also comfortable enough to wear for a day afield. The cheap (sub $20) frame is pretty durable - and builds out nice and easy, using a more advanced Flight Control, ESC and PDB lets you tailor to your wants/needs but doesn't vary the build principles much. Very easy for a first time builder to put together thanks to both the simplicity of components (most of which have other online tutorials as well) and the easy going original UAVFutures video. Agreed. It's funny because the video was published as a "here's how to make a cheap quad" but ultimately the "here is a build that you can follow along with" factor is what made the video so useful and one that I watched about 3 or 4 times. And for a half-hour youtube video that's a lot of re-watches! carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 11 Threads: 1 Likes Received: 4 in 1 posts Likes Given: 15 Joined: Jul 2017 Reputation: 0 I'm planning on my first quad build and I've seen many people suggesting either the FlySky i6 or the taranis QX7 transmitter for beginner. To be honest, I want to keep everything as cheap as I can. I want to be able to do some in-flight PID tuning, along with some other gps & autonomous features by adding the pixracer or maybe apm flight controller. So can I do all that stuff with a cheap Flysky transmitter (there happen to be the FS i6X which support up to 10 channels)? If my only option is the Taranis QX7 then I'll go for it. But I just want to make sure I'm really need it, thanks! • Posts: 347 Threads: 26 Likes Received: 354 in 189 posts Likes Given: 8 Joined: Jun 2016 Reputation: 13 I fly Flysky (i6S) and don't regret it as a beginner radio. There's an increasing number of receivers coming available to suit different roles (like micro sized craft). The iBus Protocol is supported in most Flight Controls (and there's always PPM or SBUS) You will be able to assign a Switch or Trimmer to any of the "spare" channels to do tuning or do other things. It's a bit easier to find online support for FrSky stuff, but to be honest as a starter setup the Flysky is great. In time when you've really out-stretched the FlySky then maybe spending a lot more on a Taranis is worth it?
