r9mm and r9m disconnected
#1
hi, i'm new in the fpv world,
i have a problem with my drone: the rx and the remote control are as if they were not connected.
on the receiver there is the green light and also on the remote control I see that there is a signal but any stick I move or the commands of trottle, roll .... they do nothing as if the two were disconnected.
even from betaflight nothing changes and in the receiving section it is as if they were not associated.
I have recently updated the r9mm receiver, r9m external module and the radio thinking it could be the problem but nothing has changed.

I flew for months with this configuration, a week ago I changed the vtx and now I got this problem, I checked and there are no short circuits, I also changed the cables thinking it could be anything but nothing.

i don't know how to do i have to change rx?

If you have a solid green LED on the R9MM receiver then that means it is bound to the R9M module.

Can you please run both the "dump" and "diff all" commands in the Betaflight Configurator CLI tab and copy/paste the results back here.

Please also post some good clear photos of the actual wiring and connections between your receiver and flight controller.

Your wiring and Betaflight settings all look fine for an SBUS setup. Check with a magnifying glass that there are no components missing from the R9MM and that there are no minuscule solder balls or tiny whiskers of wire bridging any of the pins or components on the receiver.

What firmware type/version did you flash to the receiver and module?

If you have a spare R9MM then it would be worth trying that out which would help to either confirm or eliminate the current R9MM as being a cause of the issue.

i flashed both fcc and flex, on both, first one and then the other but nothing has changed.

I don't have a spare r9mm

therefore, it is better if I take a new receiver?

You need to try and eliminate either the FC or the receiver as being a cause of the issue. That means either connecting up a different receiver to the current FC (i.e. a new receiver), or connecting the current receiver up to a different FC (if you have a spare one of those instead).

I got a new r9mm ota identical to the previous one, the problem is that I can't bind it. since the version of the r9m2019 module on the radio was updated, I thought about updating the receiver too but nothing happens nothing I tried both in FCC and in LBT but nothing changes: I can't bind.

With the old receiver I have never had problems doing it, could it be that the r9m module or the receiver are not in the right version or something like that?

You should be able to flash the receiver no matter what version of firmware it is already on it. Are you still able to flash the old receiver using the same transmitter to do so? If you are then maybe your new receiver is DOA.

I flashed the new RX but I can't connect; the previous RX if I connect it is everything as before, it is tied but does not respond to commands.

Does DOA mean it came already broken?

DOA = Dead On Arrival.

Did you flash the new RX with exactly the same firmware as you had on the old one?

When you say "can't connect" do you mean it won't actually bind and that you just continue to see a red LED on the RX?

regarding the new RX: to flash I went to the frsky website, download section and I got the most recent available (r9mm-ota) firmware access.
but i just can't do the initial bind with the radio.

https://www.frsky-rc.com/r9-mm-ota

now I have mounted the old RX to see if anything changes, I have also riflesh  but nothing.

I also reset and updated the FC

- r9m2019
- r9mm-ota

OK, so at least we now know that your transmitter is compatible with an ACCESS receiver because some transmitters aren't, so I just needed to double check that.

You also didn't answer the question in post #11 regarding your "can't connect" statement, so it's not clear if you haven't even been able to bind your transmitter to the receiver, or if you have bound it successfully with a solid green LED on the R9MM-OTA but just aren't getting any stick input showing up in Betaflight. Have you been able to bind the new receiver to your QX7, or not?
