Question about different types of antennas working together
#1
So right now I am trying to get everything set up optimally for my wizard. I replaced the stock rubber duck antenna with a 3" pigtail and Foxeer 5.8G 3dBi TX/RX RHCP Omni FPV Antenna RP-SMA/SMA to make things more durable and have better signal. What I didn't know and was informed when I got flying was the the straight antenna that comes stock with the Eachine EV800 goggles I am using doesn't really work that great. I guess a difference in circular and linear polarity? So after some reading of reviews on Amazon I ended up buying:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LGM...UTF8&psc=1

The reviews were really good and I figure why not. I recieved the set today and while I am waiting on some stuff from some other vendors it got me thinking, even though these are marked as a set or matched could I just use the one for my goggles and keep my foxeer on my quad or would it be better to just run the matched set? I know theres all sorts of stuff like left hand polarized and right hand polarized, but do you need to match them up? Or is it just enough that they are both circular polarized?

The only real reason I have been second guessing using the anbee one on the vtx is how it isn't quite so easy to bend and stay to that shape, whereas the foxeer will bend and stick in any position you like.

Thanks!

You DO need to match polarization - either both RHCP or both LHCP. Having different brands shouldn't make a difference.
(BTW, the photo of the ones in your link are RHCP.)

Awesome thanks for the information. I am running a 3" pigtail that I picked up, do you know if that has any effect on signal quality?

Every connector you use between antenna and tx or rx introduces some loss, question is will you notice - that depends on where you fly and connectors quality.
Find me on Youtube and Instagram. I currently fly: DRC Aura, NOX5R, Minimalist 112 and drive a scrap RC car

and if you fly in decent range... you can fly with rubber ducky on your quad as long as you have a decent antena on rx...
All the best

Curently flyable: Nox 5, Minimalist 112
Bench / in progres: fixing Nox 3,  Scrap
thinking about building: 450
