Quanum Pico / Micro SciSky headaches (possibly binding issue?)

According to the pdf link you posted. Switch 3 sets DSM2(x) to Manual mode and Switch 5 sets DSM2(x) to 11ms (22ms if OFF).  I wonder if I can crack open the case and manually set those switches with solder...

Found this thread that tells me how to change those settings via hitting the bind button.

I have been able to switch the mode using this (I see the light doing different patterns).  Now I just need to figure out what pattern is the right one.

Looks like "light off" is the one you need.  I think I read in that same post that there is no need to rebind after changing modes (may need to power off and power on though).  Try them all and see if one works.

Well I was rebinding between switching, and the only one that would actually bind is "light on fully" (which isn't even listed as one of his patterns).
The patterns I get are: "light off", "light on", "single blink", "double blink".
Only "light on" will even bind, but maybe I need to bind then switch to "light off"?
I'll try again a bit later (annoyed my coworkers enough with the beeping already).

Yes, that's what I understood from the thread (switch after binding).  Now that's not how a spektrum radio works, but I don't know about Taranis.  It's at least worth a try.

I think I'm about to give up on this thing.
Yesterday at work I could get to "light off" mode, now I can't.
When it's at "light on" I hit Bind 3 times, get beeps and it switches to "single blink". I hit the button 3 times again it goes to "double blink". Another 3 hits and it goes back to "light on".

I did notice that only in "light on" and "single blink" does the TX bind back with the board. In "double bllink" it doesn't.

I've got a friend an hour away who has a Spektrum DX6i. I might just try that and if I can't get that working I'm giving up altogether.

Sorry you haven't been able to get it working.  If you have any friends closer by with any of the Horizon or Eflite BNF or RTF models, they may have one of the small transmitters included with those models.  I believe those should work.

Just saw this on a tiny whoop build thread on Oscar's blog and thought about the problem you are having:

Quote:Firstly, setup a new model in the Taranis for Tiny Whoop, turn off internal RF and switch External RF toPPM, CH1-12 AND 30.5ms. Actually, when you switch to 12 channels, PPM frame is changed to 30.5ms automatically. There are reports that Tiny Whoop is also working with 1-8 channels but I tested it with 1-12.

I know you don't have a Taranis, but maybe there is a setting on your Turnigy to set External RF to PPM or something similar?

Don't have it with me at work today, but from what I remember I can choose either PPM or DSM2, and the board is a DSM2 receiver, so I don't think that would work. I'll have to mess with it tonight after work.

The inductrix has a dsm2 receiver as well, but on the Taranis at least, they suggest setting it to PPM - wouldn't hurt to try.

Holy hell that was it.
I was already bound in DSM2 (solid light on OrangeRx), swapped the TX over to PPM 12CH 300~sec and "PPM FrLen" to 30.5~sec and it instantly took commands fine.

Thank you SO MUCH sloscotty. You've been massively helpful.

Now I have another problem with it but I'll move that over to the Micro forum.
