That's not exactly surprising to read something like this. DJI fpv goggles are among the best in the world but it's seems like its standard procedure to first bash the company before saying anything good about the product.

I've been getting curious why there so much hatred for them. The digital goggles came out at a price point that was set by the competition and they opened it up for some 3rd party product integration through free firmware updates and haven't capitalized on these in any way prevented it or even marketed their own versions. Our limited fpv market has more fanboys than any other hobby i have ever experienced and that's fine, wierd but fine it keeps development going I guess. But the bashing I read has always seemed so unwarranted. Am I missing something? It's basically all made in China anyway?

I also noticed that when I started and wondered why. As you said, there will always be fan boys who stick to a brand no matter what but strange why there was so much hatred for a company that has produced a very good product and taken FPV in a direction I personally believe is the right one.

Haha.... Just read what the myths were. Quite funny. I thought they would be drone based but it's mostly about the Chinese government  ROFL

First of all, I think it is a bit overstated to say there is "so much hatred" for DJI.

Second, I agree about the "fanboyism" in the hobby, but I do understand it. I am an admitted "Orqa fanboy". I am an old guy and couldn't afford *any* premium product in this hobby until I retired. Just about then, Orqa announced their kickstarter and I jumped in. It was a few months later that DJI released their HD FPV system. Had I not already spent my fun money on Orqa, I probably would be a DJI fanboy now. Unfortunately, my retirement isn't sufficient to have both, and I am really happy with my Orqa's and with the company itself. Plus, it feels good to support an innovative company that is taking on the "big boys".

Third, as for the "bashing", you gotta admit - those goggles are just butt ugly. Big Grin

It's an interesting article. I think the reason people seem to "hate on DJI" so much is because of they way that DJI seem to just take over and dominate any market they enter into. People then use some of the scaremongering in that article to try and justify any apparent hatred they have. I have to admit that I do have reservations about paying money to company who could potentially take over and ruin part of our hobby by turning some of it into a closed source consumer market where all quads look the same, but at this point in time it is the only realistic option if you want to delve into the digital age of FPV, so we don't have a lot of choice unless we just end up punishing ourselves by abstaining out of principle.

There is definitely a fanboy brigade in this hobby without a shadow of a doubt, and I think we all get sucked into loyalism towards some companies in this small hobby it in some shape or form even if we don't always realise it.

As for the look of the DJI FPV Goggles, I also think they look butt ugly but you have to admit that the Qrqa goggles are no better and also make you look a complete dork as well. Just a slimmer dork instead Big Grin Only the traditional style/shape of FatShark/Skyzone/Eachine/Aomway goggles give you any small shred of credibility when wearing them Big Grin I guess none of us are on the pull when we are out flying FPV so it really doesn't matter what we look like from the outside. It's only what things look like from the inside that matter Cool

Granted I've only seen a few extreme examples but in the words of one of the youtubers...."I F***ing hate them". But again, only a few extreme. Most people I've met here may have reasons for not using them but those are logical reasons and hate doesn't come into it.

I wouldn't class anyone for supporting a company a "fanboy". It's when there is no logic for them to support the company but they are insistent on only supporting that single company no matter what.... then they're a fanboy Tongue

And yes, they are ugly. I hate putting them on. But then I hate putting any goggles on (even my VR goggles)

I personally think it is a pre-emptive against the anti-Tik Tok mentality that is spreading. The basis there being that Tik Tok is a security threat that can relay info back to China. I have some strong opinions about this, but I really would rather not turn this into a political debate ... cos that's gonna get ugly.

But regardless, I actually take my hat off to DJI. Some incumbent FPV companies could certainly learn from them as far as public perception management goes.

LOL ... yes but also all of the companies that have been around a while now and just spend way too much time on the drama than just innovating their product.

I think the dji goggles make me look like a fighter pilot and that would be the image I would want in my head while I'm zipping around instead of wondering if every one thinks I look like a dork . I'm no fanboy because I'll try any product even if the one I currently use is awesome if you think about it these companies are all the same they want are money hey who doesn't .we as the consumer are the ones that give them the competative edge by buying there products

And kudos to China if they manage to take over all our drones and turn them into military surveillance and targeted assassination machines in WW3
