Propeller Guards
#1
After some especially good then bad experiences while trying to get a start with this hobby I relented and put propeller guards on my first built Quad.

The first set I tried were useless so I tried a better style.

Since putting these on my flying and crashing has improved out of sight, sure props still get banged up flying into bushes and yes I’ve cracked the guards (just glue back together) but finally I was able to push boundaries with my flying and not “worry” so much about a bad landing or bumping into things.

As a park flyer I also think it’s a small step towards making my Quad a little safer when inevitably I get a fly-off or forced landing and it ends up near people.

Anyway putting a recommendation for people to use them on new builds during testing, or while learning to fly at the very least. I’ve even saved money with them considering they cost about the same as a pair of props!

Good idea Arron, but i don't know if it's worthy of doing it TBH.
With the weight and speed of a 5" mini quad, the prop guard is going to break easily in a crash, the "safe feeling" would mostly be psychological. For someone new who wants to play safe, I think it's better to just practice at a place without many obstacles and people around than using prop guards...

However prop guards do work well in smaller builds though like 3" or smaller, they hold up better due to the much lower weight and speed.
