Prop suggestion: Ideal 5048 tri blade
#1
I've been trying to find the perfect prop lately and have been going through a lot of testing and might have come across the perfect prop.

Ideal 5048 tri-blade.

At first I did not like the prop.  It flew ok, but when I was done with the flight, my motors were hot.

I complained about this to the guy who recommended them to me and he suggest I retune specifically to the prop.
Spent about 15 minutes doing my basic tuning method (which works really well, except I don't start at "20" on I anymore, I start at 12) and then flew FPV again.

WOW!
Heart

These things flew insanely well.  They punch out well, they have nearly no propwash in 180 degree turns.  They snap the quad around corners.  They're as durable as anything else I've ever flow.  They're crazy.

Prior to this I was a big fan of HQ 5x4x3 glass composite (for how they fly, not how they shatter), DAL Cyclones (previous best all-around prop) and HQ 5x4.5x3 V1S (the most amazing "hang time") but I don't know if I'll ever fly those again while this prop is available.

Note that I also flew a clone of this prop by DYS from myrcmart.com, and that was the worst prop I've ever flown.  So make sure you get the real deal Ideal.

Thumbs Up

On the first glance, those seem identical to the Racerstar Tri 5048 you find for a few bucks on banggood. Good props, very durable, fast, surprisingly silent but in my experience hard to tune. I get some fair amount of prop wash with them - on a rig that is totally free of oscillations when flying Dal T5040 V2. If you don't care about that you're probably off fine.

Those do look like pretty much the same thing, but like I said, I tried a DYS clone of this prop, and it was probably the worst prop I've ever flown.
Also, like I said, I didn't like this prop at first either, but when I tuned to it, I've never had anything fly this well.
