(yeah i seen that close call ) instead i would stay at the side of the field, with the sun / building in your back. You could make better use of the field that way and not risk hitting yourself. I don't wanna sound like an old teacher here, but that's how i learned myself with helicopters, trying to keep it as safe as possible, kind of how you would have to fly on a club flying field, i.e. stay behind the (imaginary) flight line and don't cross it with your aircraft. The sun doesn´t help at all to be honest, but I´ll follow your advise tomorrow when I fly again ! Thanks for the tip ! I agree with being safe, although admittedly I've been taking more risks than I should myself. Definitely some good flying there though carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 (22-Jul-2017, 09:03 PM)Carl.Vegas Wrote: Definitely some good flying there though Yeah really cool to watch, especially liked the endless rolls Posts: 155 Threads: 29 Likes Received: 36 in 28 posts Likes Given: 68 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 0 thank you guys, I´m getting there (slowly) maybe the next move should be FPV fly ! you guys don´t do much LOS right ? • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 (22-Jul-2017, 11:59 PM)flabombarda Wrote: thank you guys, I´m getting there (slowly) maybe the next move should be FPV fly ! you guys don´t do much LOS right ? I have the goggles and I tried to do FPV, my biggest challenge in fact is the real feel of altitude, basically how high I am, any recommendation for this ? • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 (26-Jul-2017, 01:28 AM)flabombarda Wrote: I have the goggles and I tried to do FPV, my biggest challenge in fact is the real feel of altitude, basically how high I am, any recommendation for this ? Yeah it's difficult to judge height over an empty field. What helps are small obstacles to fly around so you can use them as orientation... some trees etc. • Posts: 72 Threads: 2 Likes Received: 32 in 22 posts Likes Given: 1 Joined: Jun 2017 Reputation: 0 Got some good control there, quite impressive for 3 months! I've started with FPV and never flew much LOS. If it wasn't for my recent interest in flying faster I probably would stick with just over 20 degrees (roughly guesstimated as 1/16 of a full rotation). Another thing is don't be afraid to stay 50-100 ft in the air as you're learning. Get the feel for flying around FPV before you start working on flying low the the ground. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 155 Threads: 29 Likes Received: 36 in 28 posts Likes Given: 68 Joined: Apr 2017 Reputation: 0 (26-Jul-2017, 10:49 AM)Carl.Vegas Wrote: +1 to What fftunes said, also don't be afraid to start with a lower camera angle when you're starting out, or even forever for that matter if you're just flying freestyle and don't care about speed. That makes total sense Carl, I don´t need to stay low at the begging. good point ! thanks |
