Problems flashing Littlebee 20A with Arduino Uno
#1
Sad
Hi, just wondering if anyone on this board has successfully connected to Littlebees in BlHeliSuite with their Arduino Uno / clone.

I am following Oscar's instructions: http://blog.oscarliang.net/esc-1-wire-bo...li-simonk/

I'm using:
  • BlHeli Suite 14.4.0.1 (the latest)
  • Windows on a Dell desktop PC (7 I think… forgot to check), not in a VM on my Mac
  • Arduino Uno clone from Banggood
I am able to upload the 1-wire interface sketch to the Arduino board (the dialog shows progress then reports success). However, when I try to connect, the dialog "Please connect ESC and power up (cycle power)" appears, and it stays up with the back-and-forth progress bar no matter what I do.

I don't know if it means to unplug and plug the power source to the ESC, or to reset the Arduino board, but I tried both (and re-uploaded the Arduino sketch after resetting it just to make sure)

I have made sure that I:
  • connected a motor temporarily to the ESCs to make sure they work first (yep, they spin the motor)
  • installed the VCP drivers
  • selected the Arduino Uno board in the "Make Interfaces" tab (anyway, it reported success so that shouldn't be the issue)
  • selected the correct COM port (it says Arduino in the name, and I uploaded the sketch ok)
  • selected the correct interface in the menu (I forget the wording but it's the one the interface-making dialog said to choose, has USB in the title)

  • connected the ESC's ground wire to GND on the Arduino, and the signal wire to digital pin 0 (Rx).
So… what am I still doing wrong? Or do I have to purchase a genuine Arduino (looks like Oscar's is genuine)?

Thanks for any assistance. This problem is stopping me from continuing with my first 180 quad build…

Maybe try flashing it through flight controller? What FC are you using? And what fc firmware?

Hi Oscar, it's the X-Racer F303 and it still has the Cleanflight 1.11.0 that it came with. Planning to flash Betaflight.

I read you are having problems with yours… do you know if it's possible to use BlHeli passthrough on it?

I can confirm that BlHeli passthrough DOES work with the X-Racer F303 and LittleBee ESCs!  Smile Just reversed two of my ESCs and left everything else default, including NOT turning on damped light until I can determine whether the ESCs are going to fry my vTx or not…

Betaflight version: 2.4.0-RC7 (very latest), not to be cutting edge but because Boris specifically notes that he "Fixed Blheli ESC passthrough", meaning it was broken before that point.

Great, glad you got it sorted Smile
I strongly recommend adding a LC filter for your electroincs, or at least capacitors to your ESCs Smile

I am having this same issue but I am using the SPracingF3mini. I have the exact same setup but no matter what I do I cannot connect to the esc. This FC doesn't support passthrought from what I have tried. Any way I can flash these esc's? I can't fly until I do.

Does anyone know if the passthrough works with flip32?

Yes it does. I've used it with no problems. Only difference is you program each ESC seperately instead of all at once.
