I wouldn't pretend to have advice, but I think I learned a few things watching how you handled some of your turns... At first I was thinking about race lines from a car racing point of view and then realized that doesn't translate quite as well as I'd like it to sometimes lol. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 Nice flying Jimmy! Is the FPV camera angle the same as your HD camera? And have you tried different camera angles on the same course(s) with the same quad? (I'm definitely not one to advise on any sort of FPV flying, but I kept wanting to keep the ground dots in frame more - you were still showing plenty of sky in the straights...) I still remember your first videos - Wow, what a difference! When you get to the top of the heap, we'll all get to say we knew you when... When you get to the top of the heap, we'll all get to say we knew you when... thanks scotty. my fpv camera has a little more up tilt than my HD camera. and those dots are kinda hard to see through the goggles sometimes. i find it better to just use them at first to learn the track, then once i get the track down i just ignore them and try to keep tight lines, and anticipate the next gate or flag. and yah i would have to tilt back on the straights because i kept having to correct and adjust so i wouldn't over shoot the next turn (which i almost did every lap) lol. • Posts: 1,590 Threads: 89 Likes Received: 1,283 in 768 posts Likes Given: 1,274 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 31 (17-Apr-2017, 03:23 PM)JimmyLe813 Wrote: thanks Carl. yah the lines are much different than car racing, there's less time to react to error. what i do is fly with the HD camera for the first few practice laps then watch the video on my laptop between heats to try to find better lines, and try to figure out where i can speed up and where i need to slow down to make the next gate or flag. This is exactly what I used to do when I was racing my Miata. I'd always review my morning runs during lunch try to see the spots where I had trouble so that I can focus on hitting my angles just right. carl.vegas Current Quads: Operational: Diatone GT2 200 In need of repair: Bumble Bee, tehStein, Slightly modified Vortex 250 • Posts: 1,149 Threads: 50 Likes Received: 704 in 450 posts Likes Given: 1,189 Joined: Sep 2016 Reputation: 30 Imho only very few turns that could be taken sharper but that's completely disregarding how tight and difficult these tracks already are, that's really some good flying. How can you stay that cool lol Posts: 5,315 Threads: 672 Likes Received: 3,155 in 1,743 posts Likes Given: 2,030 Joined: Jan 2016 Reputation: 139 you handled those courses like a champ man very consistent! How can you stay that cool lol thanks fftunes, yah that first track was very technical. the first time i ever flew that track it was an official event and i totally bombed it. i let my nerves get the best of me and crashed out almost every heat. ever since then i just tell myself that it's just another day at the park and it helps me calm down. I dont see your stick in input but from footage it looks like you could rise you rates a litte bit to give you more middlestick control good for faster turns and so but beware on the first lipos it is harder to fly! • Posts: 2,410 Threads: 136 Likes Received: 1,790 in 1,052 posts Likes Given: 3,302 Joined: Jan 2017 Reputation: 50 Great flying! Nice to catch a glimpse or 2 of the competition as well. Windless fields and smokeless builds • |
