hey guys i recently bought a gimbal 160 grams for my zmr250.Total weight is 850grams.I tried flying it and it took of fine under 50 percent throttle. However i only got 1 minutes of flight time.I was using a 2200 mah 3s and mt1806 2280 kv motors which produce a max thrust of 400 grams.I really want to increase my flight time to atleast 5 minutes.

My setup is

12a simonk firmaware unbranded esc
MT1806 2280 kv emax motor
3s 2200 mah battery
Flight time=1 minute
Flight time with 3s 1350 mah=1.10 minutes
Do change my flight time what do i need to do?
Change motor (I really dont want to)
Change batter to a higher c rating?
Change props?
Thanks.

i was inspired by oscar liang and really want to get flite times which he does.

the quad is simply too heavy for your setup. The motors you are using are not really good at carrying that much weight.
if you really want to fly longer, you will probably need to upgrade them to 2206-2208 sizes, and upgrade your battery to 4S.

But as for now, you might be able to get a bit more efficiency by using lighter props. what props are you using at the moment?

Did i get this right?
1 min with the large battery
1 min 10 sec with the small one?

Sounds wrong somehow.
Additionally, what fc / firmware are you on?

Difference in battery capacity and flight time is offset by the difference in weight.....i.e., the lower capacity battery is lighter by enough to add a little extra flight time?

Yes but still... 2200mAh in 1 minute sounds terrible, that battery must be cooking. Maybe heavily overpropped? Like 6" on those 1806 perhaps?

Hi ageorge,
A couple of members above asked a some questions.  They really do want to help you, but if you don't answer questions and/or provide more information, there's not much anyone can do.  Simply "bumping" the thread doesn't help us know any more than we already do.  Please provide the requested information.
Thanks!  Smile

Agreed. Could be a lot of reasons...as Scotty suggested, more information would be helpful.

800 g doesn't sound that terrible... mine second zmd had 750 g wieght (don't ask me how Smile )
it was hovering over 50 % of throttle and i had few minutes of "calm" flight..

however one minute seems something is off, either props are too large, or there are too many blades and the power is not able to keep up.

few steps:
- lighten it up, check for unnecesary stuff you have on your quad (5m of cables going back and forward, 3x bec, 7 power regulators)
- how do you define flight time (do you have osd and power is falling to X V? or you have lipo alarm set to 4.0 ?)
please provide how you measure your flight based on what, what is your flight pattern (mine is POWAAAAAAAH, so batteries tend to die a lot)
All the best

Sounds like you're trying to use a 250 racer for an aerial photo rig. Not gonna work. Build a 450 and put the gimbal on that.
