Pilots VS Sponsors
#1
[Image: iUIRUEEl.png]

Saw this and kind of agree

I think Chad said that because of what happened in the US drone national (which I am not really interested so didn't know what happened exactly). But there is another quite interesting phenomenon i have been witnessing the last few months that might be related.

It's getting a bit annoying that some people keep posting meaningless pictures or videos everyday to brag about receiving whatever from this shop or that shop...
It's worse than Ads! At least they get be blocked! Smile

I kind of miss the time before mini quad took off. Technology was crap, everyone's flying was crap, but at least things were a lot simpler back then and no drama LOL Big Grin

moved to "off topics" :p

Oscar, you could just do what I do and pay absolutely no attention to social media. The only reason I know of any pilots by name is because they popped up on a Drone podcast.

Honestly, if someone is sponsoring a pilot there should be some "payoff" in terms of how he presents himself. (in the end this is business)
unfortunatelly no one wants to sponsor me Tongue so i'll be flooding you with only stuff that i bought and find cool (+ gazilion of movies with flips and rolls which for some reason i ejnoy at the moment Smile)

what i like, if there is a sponsor there is a short 1-3 seconds intro (like our forum), what i don't like is overglorifiing stuff, ok i get it you got it for free, try to be objective thou. Also i find it quite painless if there is some small overlay (i've added to my movies overlay of what im flying, not because it is free/paid, i find it reliable and i'm willing to share the "what i found is good")

ie. there was/is a very famous frame which i find very easy to break due to construction design... however i've seen a lot of pilots giving their oooohs and aaaaahs... on the frame... yes they got it for free.... so when i would spend my money on it i would be really mad man..

and also there are always are going to be guys like "pro" who will go to every event "just" to win, and there will be weekend flyers (as me) that don't give a ... who won what - im here for joy of flight, and if possible to help others, i like some pilots for how they present their personas and how they drag other into the hobby - and frankly i don't care if they win or not... i'm already hooked up to some of them, looking for new stuff they will show.
All the best

Grisha..You hit the nail right on the head there.

some sponsored Pilots couldn't care less what free goods they get, They could get a Yammazuki frame for free, fly it and ohhhh and ahhh about it (as they are paid to do so) and all of a sudden the "sheep" out there drool all over it because XYZ top gun is flying it therefore it must be good. And thus up go the prices for a otherwise unknown frame . Then the Top gun has a falling out with said sponsor and boo hoos about it all over social media and jump on the next free list of goodies heading there way.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be a sponsored pilot and have to perform like a monkey at the organ grinders commands, I fly for me and me alone, if I find a frame I like I will share the info and name the good and bad about it, and let others make up there own mind based on the accurate (to best of my ability) info I have provided.

Hi my name is Jimmy and I'm here for the IntoFPV sponsorship try outs. I would like to try out for team  pilot, freestylist, water boy, or tree hugger. not necessarily in that order.

I wished so called sponsored pilots, or just people in general would just be honest about products they get from manufactures. they were sent a product for free and in advance to do a review on. if they really want to help the manufacture they should be honest so that the manufacture knows what they need to change to improve the product, and what is working. i don't mind spending a little more knowing I'm getting a better product, and not because it was indorsed by a so called pro.
