PID tuning help
#1
Hey guys,

I have been trying to tune my PIDs nearly half day now, it is getting better...but I'm stuck at this point.
Can not get rid of the pitch oscillation completely. And my yaw is terrible...

My setup is:
Killer Bee 6" V1 frame
NAZE32 rev5 full
DYS 1806 2300kv
DYS 20amp
Drone Lab 1500mah 3S LiPo
Betaflight 2.4.0

See attached the current PIDs and blackbox log...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Not even looking at the log, but:
D down ... half it, at least. It's overtuned, and the oscillations are D ones

when you tune set your D to like 5 ... or even 0
put I on like 0.02 or less if you can handle it.

then tune P ... after that I ... THEN add D so the rebounce stopps.

Yaw: P=8 I=0,04 D=5
And when it's nut turning enough, increse the rate ... i fly yaw rate at 1,5 (with RC_rate =1)

1st EDIT: Turn TPA off
2nd EDIT: Reset to default, then tune as above ... there is a lot wrong mate.

yea, Diego is right, D for pitch and roll are too much Smile
half that first Smile

I will take a look at the log tonight and give you some of my ideas on top of Diego's.

Since i already have evening i thought i can be faster than Oscar =P

You also see the noise in D. lower it, maybe add some D filtering.
What looptimes are you running? - 1006µs in average

And you can set your min_throttle lower than 1150 ^^

AND it would be nice, if you would inform us of your progress, so we know our comments help =)
OR just ask questions ^^

Thx guys! I started from the PID settings recommended on the frame manufacturers site: http://www.birdseye.nu/index.php?id_prod...&id_lang=1

I will try now to start it over with your recommendations! Smile
Will keep you updated!

So, after 3 lipos this is what I've got Big Grin please see the attached SS and blackbox log Wink

The yaw is slow in my opinion, after turning, it keeps turning for a bit after I let the stick go...

your quad is seriously under powered... your hover point is at 60% throttle!, that's why your quad is struggling to stabilize!

for mini quad you probably need 40/50% or less for hover point to get some good performance

what's the weight of your quad? and what propellers are you using?

Meh, I know it's under powered Big Grin  as it is raining nearly every day I have to tune inside...so I chose 5030 props... didn't realize it would affect the behavior that much...tomorrow I might get a bit of a fly time outside...I will put on the 6045 ThugProps and will see how does it perform...

do the PIDs look better? Smile

Yes PID look smooth... but it's oscillate quite a bit Smile

Your PID values are only good for one type of props... if you change props (for exmaple from 5030 to 5040 or 5045) your PID probably needs re-tuning again Smile

and do the tuning out door whenever possible Smile

I know I can't tune it properly inside, but after work when I get home it's already dark...and also it is raining Big Grin And I have a quite big empty room...nothing to destroy except for the props.

So I only want to get rid of those stupid oscillations. I have tried a ton of numbers, these seemed to be the best, at least for roll. Roll seems good, not perfect, but way better then before. But with pitch I'm simply lost...I have gone with P from 2 to 7 it oscillates at every number...it is the best around 5.5-5.7. Then tried increasing I and D...but it still oscillates  Angry

Any ideas?  Huh Cry
