Panel Antenna Direction
#1
With my FPV goggles, I got two antennae:  a mushroom antenna and a flat square one.

The flat square one is referred to in the goggle’s literature as a panel  ( not patch ) antenna.
There is virtually NO writing or label on either side.
BUT there is a faint outline of four small squares with what appears to be wiring between each square and the main pole.
The opposite side is just plain flat material.

So the question is :  which side is the active side which I point toward the vehicle?

I cannot find an answer anywhere on the web.
I do realize that it is very directional in the “facing” direction with little or no signal on the edges.

Thanks

Im still learnin and only have an Eachine patch/panel antenna that came with my Goggles 2. For that (which also has no markings) the side which has the coax cable soldered to it is the rear. Front should be 100% free of any obstruction. (I think) Wink
One of our highly experienced members can elaborate a bit further Im sure.
If all else fails. Try one way, then the other, and compare Tongue

leave the quad 30 meters away or so and you should probably notice which side is which on the antenna

Hmmm, you left me scratching my head with this one. I have an Aomway patch that looks like what you're describing and I always assumed that the "front" was the side that has the squares on it and never considered the fact that it may as well be the opposite Big Grin

Hope someone can shed some light.

The 'front' of a patch antenna is the side with the squares. The back of the patch is a ground plane.
