Other beginner options to the X220

This one has worked good for me. I parallell charge 2x6 1300mah 4S from storage to full in about an hour with it and an external power supply. I like to have more channels when out in the field, because then I can fly and put the battery on charge as soon as it has cooled down a bit. There is also a 4 channel version which a buddy of mine has got.

There is also some smaller and interesting chargers out there like this one, but I don't know how it performs. I have heard good words about them, but there are probably others here that has more experience with it.

The only thing that bothers me with the Skyrc charger is the fan noise when charging in the same room as you are. It can be a bit noisy

Hmmm i have an old bench powersupply. 0V-30V and i think 2A but i guess that's not good enough. The voltage will sag easily as far as i remember.

So no should either get a proper supply or chargers with integrated transformers

Sorry i was only on page 3 of the thread and didn't see all your answers.

The Fan noise is no issue since it will be charged in my gaming room and i wear a high quality headset all the time that cancels out noise. Both chargers look interesting. Btw. i can also snatch a Notebook powersupply from work 9.5-20V with 65W but i am not sure if this is any kind of help :/

Damn the ISDT Q6 Plus looks really amazing but is obviously missing a Powersupply. I gonna snoop around and check "bigclivedotcom"s channel to see if he reviewed a suitable cheap chinese powersupply. I really like his channel, he always takes everything apart to the last bit to analyze the quality. There were quite a few high quality supplies for a "few bucks"

This is the power supply I use. It has been working without any issues for 6 months now. It is only 240W so it is a bit small for the 300W charger obviously. There are probably better ones out there, and some also rebuild old computer power supplys.

I don't know why i didn't think about computer power supplies. I should be able to find some at work.

So i will basically put all the 12V outputs in parallel to get the maximum current rating and then attach it to a XTconnector to be used as an Input for the ISDTQ6. I really like the idea of getting a fat ass LiPo pack to charge the smaller ones in the field Smile

Coming down to the last question... Which LiPos would be recommended for a quad this size?

EDIT: I just checked my tracking status, looks like my Remote will be here today or tomorrow Big Grin Faster than i expected Smile

There's some things to watch out for when using pc power supplies, i'm no expert but here's good thread in that german forum Wink guckst du mal link: https://www.rc-heli.de/board/showthread.php?t=228520

Can't recommend registering to that forum anymore though, since multirotor corner pretty much died out during last few months due to stupid moderators... However, if it works out maybe you could put a summary up here on intoFPV Wink

I normally use my car battery as spower supply in the field, but I know that many people use a big lipo. Nothing wrong with that Wink . I have been thinking about building a big battery pack with 18650 LiIon cells due to the higher energy density than lipos. You could potentially get away with more power and less weight by using LiIon

@fftunes Guess who just found an amazing 12V 66A 800W powersupply at work Big Grin Good thing we have so many servers that get switched out Smile And i know of course that you have to brigde some contacts to get the powersupply to activate. I gonna sniff through the datasheet to see which pins to bridge

https://www.servershop24.de/komponenten/...Aqjv8P8HAQ

This should be roughly enough to power 2x ISDTQ6 Chargers Big Grin

@oyvinla Yeah currently i dont have a car and i don't want to transport a big ass battery on my Motorbike xD Regarding the LiIon batterys ... my current goal is to be as cost effiicient as possible right now

What LiPo packs would you guys recommend? I want to buy around 6-10 packs.

[EDIT:] LooooL I literally just found a Forum Thread of some german dude who did exactly the same thing I want to do right now, with the exact same powersupply xD

Yeah watched a lot of his videos already. Still thanks for the hint. Gotta do some research again Big Grin

By the way I made a poste about my powersupply since it's not the EXACT same as i first thought. If anybody is interested to use the same supply as me in the future, here is the link to my thread for the standalone modification

I would say skip the diatone sp3 and get the sp2, 200mw will be enough you wont need the osd anyway. Get a betaflight fc, like the omnibus f3 pro, its sooo much more convenient with the integrated betaflight osd, I can't stress that enough, you will be able to tune the quad through your googles and adjust the osd in 5 mins in betaflight app. Don't go the mwosd way not worth it IMO. rcx 2206 v2 are great ,they are going to my next build too. Racerstars are good but with the same money you can get dys xsd30a which have very good feedback from people using them. Get a good fpv cam like the swift or arrow v2 , or even better the eagle if you can stretch your budget. I personally prefer the rotor riot swift with the wide angle, swift v2 is also getting good reviews but I have no personal experience. The Martian is a decent frame for the money but a bit heavy. It will serve you good as a first build. If you are not in a hurry you can check armattanproductions, there are many superb quality frames there with little money. My2c.

edit: I forgot , go straight 4s, 3s is wasted money, you can always adjust the throttle curve to make it more tame.

I just realised i haven't posted my parts list in quite some time

Frame: Martian II
PDB: Realacc/Matek PDB-XPW
FC: Lumenier LUX V2
OSD: MinimOSD
VTX: Immersion RC Tramp HV
FCAM: Runcam Swift
ESC: Racestar RS30A V2 30A blheli_s
Motor: RCX RS2206 V2 2400kv
Remote/RX: Flysky FS-i6X X6B
Antenna: Aomway Cloverleaf
FPV Goggles: Kylin FPV Vision Goggles

I gonna take a look for the ESCs you talked about and swap them for the ones i have on my parts list. I gonna take a look at more review videos regarding the cams. I really want to have an OSD that can display mA/h consumption. And yes i am going straight for 4S

I should have seen this earlier and asked you to get the Swift 2 instead.. and ditch the MinimOSD... my bad!
Not that it's no good... I just think without it will make your building a lot quicker and easier Smile It's still good though Big Grin
looking forward to you build!
