If Your camera is grounded to the PDB, that's enough. Same for VTX. Just ground everything directly to PDB with one wire and don't use "other grounds". • Posts: 1,290 Threads: 67 Likes Received: 711 in 472 posts Likes Given: 1,216 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 23 Ok.....then as you said, it allows me to get rid of some wires....I'm all for simple! Thanks for you help, I appreciate it!! : ) "Damn the torpedoes!!! Edit Reason: more info added ) Do you guys know or recommend one vendor versus another for decent quality micro-minimosd's? I too have multiple ripped pads and one just fizzled out while flying. I tried banggood, ebay, readytoflyquads, and amazon..... I bought a total of 5 micro-minimosd's and only got 2 good ones. I'm going to try eliminating the cam/VTX grounds/batt ground/signal ground in the next builds (just use main power source ground), if anything to minimize heat possibly destroying the pcb. Come to think of it, all the pads that ripped were not grounds!?! • Posts: 102 Threads: 13 Likes Received: 10 in 8 posts Likes Given: 9 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 3 I avoid those minims completely, PDB with integrated OSD is much more comfortable (no extra wires, no mounting problems, no ripped pads, etc). But in the end it's based on personal preference and budget. One of them kept being hit by props on one build and is still working on another. No pads ripped during that few months. Guess You should practice quick soldering or use lighter soldering iron (25-Apr-2016, 06:31 PM)Luc Wrote: I avoid those minims completely, PDB with integrated OSD is much more comfortable (no extra wires, no mounting problems, no ripped pads, etc). Also if You buy a good PDB with integrated OSD, You have a higher chance of getting quality components. It's true, that cheap micro minims are a lottery. • Posts: 13 Threads: 4 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 25-Apr-2016, 07:49 PM (This post was last modified: 25-Apr-2016, 08:09 PM by yelrx8. Wiring is so much cleaner with the integrated PDB!!! Actually going to try that integrated PDB on next build where I can afford a few gram's. • Posts: 2,416 Threads: 51 Likes Received: 1,861 in 1,175 posts Likes Given: 3,315 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 74 (25-Apr-2016, 07:49 PM)yelrx8 Wrote: yeah,,, sub-250g builds.... weight of (micro minimosd + lantian micro pdb + 2A micro BEC + all the wires) < weight of (PDB with integrated OSD) The lightest PDB with integrated OSD seems to be ~8g? http://www.banggood.com/MXK-Power-Distri...31375.html (reading the comments tho, not very reliable either...) Quadrevo PowerOSD Pro is 5 grams: http://quadrevo.com/index.php?route=prod...duct_id=56 AND it has filtered 5V and 10V out. • Posts: 119 Threads: 9 Likes Received: 9 in 4 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Mar 2016 Reputation: 2 26-Apr-2016, 01:25 AM (This post was last modified: 26-Apr-2016, 01:25 AM by Bandook.) Is there an integrated osd that allows you to flash mwosd or similar and change flight controller settings? That for me is the most appealing feature. I can just get a low voltage alarm or time my flights, but trying different rates and adjusting pid's in the field is nice. • Posts: 13 Threads: 4 Likes Received: 0 in 0 posts Likes Given: 0 Joined: Feb 2016 Reputation: 0 (26-Apr-2016, 01:25 AM)Bandook Wrote: Is there an integrated osd that allows you to flash mwosd or similar and change flight controller settings? Yes: (looks like its a micro-minimosd built-in.) (25-Apr-2016, 07:49 PM)yelrx8 Wrote: http://www.banggood.com/MXK-Power-Distri...31375.html • |
